2018 FA WSL Cup Final
The 2018 FA WSL Cup Final was the seventh final of the FA WSL Cup, England's secondary cup competition for women's football teams and its primary league cup tournament. It took place on the 14 March 2018, at Adams Park, contested by Arsenal and Manchester City, the only two teams to have ever won the tournament. Arsenal have competed in all but one of the previous finals, whereas Manchester City have only previously appeared in two but have won both of them. The two teams have previously played out the match in the 2014 FA WSL Cup final, which Manchester City won by a goal to nil. Arsenal won the match 1–0, with a first-half goal from Vivianne Miedema. 2017–18 FA WSL Cup
The 2017–18 FA WSL Cup was the 7th edition of the FA WSL's league cup competition. It was sponsored by Continental AG, who have sponsored the competition since its creation, and is officially known as the FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup. All 20 teams of the two divisions of the WSL contest the competition - the largest field in the history of the cup. Manchester City were the defending champions. Before the competition, only Manchester City and Arsenal had won the cup in the previous six seasons it was contested in. Format changes After a one-year experiment with a pure knockout formula, the WSL Cup returned to a format featuring a group stage. London Bees is an English women's football club affiliated with Barnet F.C. They play in the FA Women's National League South. The club has been in existence under several names since 1975, originally being called District Line Ladies F.C.. The team were re-branded as London Bees after joining the new WSL 2 for the 2014 season. The club have a first team and a youth academy; both train and play at the Hive Stadium. History The club began in 1975 as District Line Ladies FC, then merged with Wembley FC in 1993 to become Wembley Ladies FC. Joseph Adrian Montemurro (born 13 September 1969) is an Australian soccer coach and former player who is the head coach of Italian club Juventus Women. Montemurro played as a midfielder during his short playing career, mainly in Italy, before returning to Australia to play in the Victorian state leagues. He began coaching in youth football for various Victorian clubs, before his first managerial role with Sunshine George Cross, and then later, Coburg United. His first job abroad came in 2013, spending four months as the inaugural manager of Papua New Guinean side Port Moresby. The Women's Championship (formerly The FA Women's Championship) is the second-highest division of women's football in England. The division was established in 2014 as the FA Women's Super League 2 (WSL 2). WSL 2 replaced the previous level 2 division, the FA Women's Premier League (WPL) National Division, which ended after the 2012–13 season. The WPL's last national division champions, Sunderland A.F.C. Women, were not promoted and also became the first winners of WSL 2 in the 2014 season. The Women's Super League (WSL), currently known as the Barclays Women's Super League (BWSL) for sponsorship reasons, is the highest league of women's football in England. Established in 2010, it is run by the Football Association and features twelve fully professional teams. The league replaced the FA Women's Premier League National Division as the highest level of women's football in England, with eight teams competing in the inaugural 2011 season. In the WSL's first two seasons, there was no relegation from the division.
