2018 Copa Paraguay
The 2018 Copa Paraguay was the first edition of the Copa Paraguay, Paraguay's domestic football cup competition. The competition ended with Guaranà winning their first title after beating Olimpia 5–3 on penalties in the final following a 2–2 draw. GuaranÃ, as the winners, were awarded a berth into the 2019 Copa Sudamericana. Preliminary stage The preliminary stage was played by teams from the Primera B, Primera C, and the UFI. 7 Primera B teams, 6 Primera C teams, and 7 teams from the UFI qualified for the national stage, for a total of 20 teams. Asunción (, , , Guarani: Paraguay) is the capital and the largest city of Paraguay. The city stands on the eastern bank of the Paraguay River, almost at the confluence of this river with the Pilcomayo River. Club Atlético Colegiales, known as Atlético Colegiales or simply Colegiales, is a football club from the Cuatro Mojones neighborhood in Lambaré, Paraguay, founded in 1977 by the ZacarÃas family. The team currently plays in División Intermedia, the second division in the Paraguayan football league system. History The ZacarÃas family named the team "Colegiales" (which basically means "students") after their chain of bookstores called "El Colegio" (The College). 12 de Octubre Football Club is a Paraguayan football club from the city of Itauguá that currently plays in the División Intermedia, the second division of Football in Paraguay. Founded in 1914, the club's home venue is Estadio Luis Alberto Salinas Tanasio. The club is the only club outside the Asuncion Metropolitan Area to win a league title.
