2018 British Soap Awards
The 2018 British Soap Awards honoured the best in British soap operas throughout 2017 and 2018. The ceremony was held on 2 June 2018 at the Hackney Empire theatre in Hackney, London, and was broadcast live for the first time on ITV and STV. The publicly voted categories were announced on 10 April 2018, with the vote opening that same day. This included a longlist for the Best Actress and Actor awards. The shortlist, including panel nominations, was released on 1 May 2018. ITV soap ''Coronation Street'' won all three of the viewer-voted categories including Best British Soap, as well as taking home the most awards of the night. To commemorate it being the 20th British Soap Awards, they introduced a one-time award, Greatest Moment, which ''Emmerdale'' won for their 2016 Hotten bypass crash. The British Soap Awards
The British Soap Awards (BSAs) are an annual awards ceremony in the United Kingdom which honours the best moments in British soap operas. The ceremony is televised on ITV and has been presented by Phillip Schofield since 2006. The trophies given to the winners are made from metal and glass and have been manufactured by British firm Creative Awards since their inception. The majority of the awards are voted for by a panel of industry professionals, while Best British Soap, Best Family and Best Leading Performer are voted for by the general public. The awards for Best Actress and Best Actor were voted for by the public from 1999 to 2019. History The first British Soap Awards took place in 1999. Rudolph Walker
Rudolph Malcolm Walker (born 28 September 1939) is a Trinidadian-British actor, known for his sitcom roles as Bill Reynolds in ''Love Thy Neighbour'' (1972–76) and Constable Frank Gladstone in '' The Thin Blue Line'' (1995–96). Since 2001, he has played Patrick Trueman in the BBC soap opera ''EastEnders''. Ian Midlane
Ian Midlane (born 2 February 1976) is an English actor, known for portraying the role of Al Haskey on the BBC soap opera '' Doctors''. For his performance as Al, he won the award for Best Comedy Performance at the 2018 British Soap Awards. ''Doctors'' is a British medical soap opera, first broadcast on BBC One on 26 March 2000. Set in the fictional West Midlands town of Letherbridge, the soap follows the lives of the staff of both an NHS doctor's surgery and a university campus surgery, as well as the lives of their families and friends.
