2022 Ontario Municipal Elections
The 2022 municipal elections in Ontario were held on October 24, 2022. Voters in the province of Ontario elected mayors, councillors, school board trustees and all other elected officials in all of the province's municipalities. In total, 32 of Ontario's 444 municipalities will not hold elections, as their entire councils were elected by acclamation. In total, 139 municipalities had their mayors or reeves acclaimed. Ronald Eddy
Ronald E. F. Eddy (born ) is a politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1992 to 1995. He represented the riding of Brant—Haldimand, and the mayor of the County of Brant from 1999 to 2018. Background Eddy was born in Toronto, Ontario and raised on a farm near Brantford. He worked as a farmer and municipal administrator. He was a clerk-administrator in Wentworth County, Ontario from 1955 to 1973, and for Middlesex County from 1974 to 1992. He was reeve of South Dumfries Township from 1978 to 1991, and was a councillor in Brant County. On one occasion, he served as president of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario. In 1990, Eddy was president of an international plowing competition. Brant—Haldimand (federal Electoral District)
Brant—Haldimand was a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1953 to 1968, and in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1987 to 1999. The riding was created in 1952 from parts of Brant—Wentworth and Haldimand. It consisted of the counties of Haldimand and Brant. The townships of Burford and Oakland in Brant were excluded, along with the part of the township of Brantford lying south and west of Grand River, the part of the township of Brantford not included in the electoral district of Brantford, and the city of Brantford. The electoral district was abolished in 1966 when it was redistributed between Brant, Norfolk—Haldimand and Welland ridings. 2018 Ontario Municipal Elections
The 2018 municipal elections in Ontario were held on October 22, 2018. Voters in the province of Ontario elected mayors, councillors, school board trustees and all other elected officials in all of the province's municipalities. Electoral period As per the Ontario Municipal Elections Act, 1996, nomination papers for candidates for municipal and school board elections could be filed from May 1, 2018, at which time the campaign period began. Nominations closed on July 27, 2018, at 2 PM local time. Certification of nomination papers was completed by 4 PM on July 30, 2018. Voting was on October 22 from 10 AM to 8 PM.
