2018 All-Ireland Under 20 Football Championship
The 2018 Inter-County Under 20 Football Championship was the 55th edition of the competition, and the first since the competition was re-graded from Under 21 to Under 20. It was sponsored by Eirgrid, and known as the EirGrid GAA Football U20 All-Ireland Championship for sponsorship purposes. 31 counties played in the tournament ( Kilkenny did not participate). The competition began with a preliminary round game in Ulster on 25 May 2018, and ended with the final on 5 August 2018. Competition format Player eligibility Players under 20 years of age cannot play for a county's senior and under-20 championship teams. This rule was introduced to prevent player burnout and to allow the senior and under-20 championships to be scheduled in the same summer months with separate panels of players. Davy Burke
Davy Burke (born about 1987 or 8) is a Gaelic football manager and former player. He has been manager of the Roscommon county team since 2022. He formerly managed Wicklow. Career Burke's playing career (including underage with Kildare) was brought to an end by numerous injuries, including two torn cruciates and a cracked kneecap. He had a replacement plastic kneecap put in. Burke, who is from County Kildare, managed Kildare to the 2018 All-Ireland Under 20 Football Championship. Appointed in November 2017, he resigned in October 2018. He then managed Maynooth in the Sigerson Cup. While managing Sarsfields of Newbridge in 2019 (he led them to the 2019 Kildare Senior Football Championship), Burke was mentioned as a possible Kildare senior manager before Jack O'Connor took the role. Cusack Park, Mullingar
Cusack Park (' in Irish), known for sponsorship reasons as TEG Cusack Park, is a GAA stadium in Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland. It is the main grounds of Westmeath GAA's Gaelic football and hurling teams. The ground, named after GAA founder Michael Cusack, was opened in 1933 and had a capacity of 15,000. However following a national review of health and safety at GAA grounds in 2011, the overall capacity was reduced to 11,500. MacHale Park () is a GAA stadium in Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland. It is the home of the Castlebar Mitchels GAA and Mayo GAA Gaelic football teams. St Jarlath's Park (''Páirc Naomh Iarflaith'', commonly known as Tuam Stadium) is a GAA stadium in Tuam, County Galway, Ireland. It is one of the principal stadiums of Galway GAA's football teams. The ground once had a capacity of around 26,000. This has progressively been reduced for safety reasons and has most recently been reduced to 6,700.
