2018 ASB Classic
The 2018 Auckland Open (sponsored by ASB Bank) was a joint 2018 ATP World Tour and 2018 WTA Tour tennis tournament, played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 33rd edition of the women's event, and the 42nd edition of the men's event. It took place at the ASB Tennis Centre in Auckland, New Zealand, from 1 to 7 January 2018 for the women, and from 8 to 13 January 2018 for the men. WTA International Tournaments
The WTA International Tournaments was a category for professional tennis tournaments of the Women's Tennis Association from the 2009 WTA Tour until 2020, which replaced the previous Tier III and Tier IV categories. The winner of a WTA International adds 280 points to her WTA ranking. For the 2020 season, there were 32 tournaments, all knock-out tournaments with a prize money for every event at $275,000 ($775,000 for Shenzhen, and $525,000 for Guangzhou and Hong Kong). The ATP Auckland Open, commonly known by its sponsored name ASB Classic, is a professional men's tennis tournament in Auckland, New Zealand. The tournament is played annually at the ASB Tennis Centre, in Parnell. It is part of the ATP World Tour 250 series of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour. The tournament is held annually in January a week before the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, the Australian Open. Radu Albot (born 11 November 1989) is a Moldovan professional tennis player. He is the first player from Moldova to win ATP singles (2019 Delray Beach Open) and doubles ( 2015 Istanbul Open) titles. Wu Yibing (; ; born 14 October 1999) is a Chinese professional tennis player. He has a career-high singles ranking of No. 58, achieved on 13 February 2023, and a doubles ranking of No. 295, achieved on 23 April 2018. He is the first Chinese man in the Open Era to reach, and to win, an ATP Tour-level singles final, doing so at the 2023 Dallas Open. Michael Venus (born 16 October 1987), is a New Zealander professional tennis player. He has a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 6, achieved on 29 August 2022. Venus won the 2017 French Open men's doubles partnering Ryan Harrison, and followed with a runner-up finish in the 2017 US Open mixed doubles partnering Chan Hao-ching. Venus and Harrison qualified for the year-end championships ATP Finals, where they reached the semifinals.
