2018 AFC U-23 Championship Squads
The following is a list of squads for each national team which competed at the 2018 AFC U-23 Championship. The tournament took place in China, between 9–27 January 2018. It was the third U-23 age group competition organised by the Asian Football Confederation. As the tournament was not held during the FIFA International Match Calendar, clubs were not obligated to release the players. The sixteen national teams involved in the tournament were required to register a squad of 23 players, including three goalkeepers. Only players in these squads were eligible to take part in the tournament. Players born on or after 1 January 1995 were eligible to compete in the tournament. The full squad listings are below. 2018 AFC U-23 Championship
The 2018 AFC U-23 Championship (also known as the 2018 AFC U-23 Asian Cup) was the third edition of the AFC U-23 Championship, the biennial international age-restricted football championship organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the men's under-23 national teams of Asia. A total of 16 teams competed in the tournament. It took place between 9–27 January 2018, and was hosted by China. Uzbekistan defeated Vietnam in the final to win their first title. Japan were the defending champions, but failed to defend the title after losing to Uzbekistan in the quarter-finals. Hosts selection * Qualification The qualifiers were held from 15 to 23 July 2017. Wuhan Zall
Wuhan Yangtze River Football Club, formerly Wuhan Zall Football Club (), is a professional Chinese football club that currently participates in the Chinese Super League under licence from the Chinese Football Association (CFA). The team is based in Wuhan, Hubei and their home stadium is the Dongxihu Sports Centre that has a seating capacity of 30,000. Their current majority shareholder is the investment company Wuhan Zall Development Holding Co. Ltd. The club was founded in 2009 after the withdrawal and then dissolution of its predecessor Wuhan Optics Valley from the league after the club had a dispute with the Chinese Football Association over their on-field behaviour. Nie Aoshuang
Nie Aoshuang (; born 16 January 1995) is a Chinese footballer currently playing as a midfielder for Chinese Super League club Wuhan. Club career Nie Aoshuang would play for the Wuhan Zall youth team before being sent to France to study with the FC Sochaux-Montbéliard football team for three months. On his return he would be promoted to the senior team and go on to be a squad player before signing a new contract with the club on 1 July 2016. He would go on to score his first goal for the club on 4 April 2018 in a league game against Liaoning F.C. that ended in a 4-0 victory. Li Hailong
Li Hailong (; born 2 August 1996) is a Chinese footballer who currently plays as a defender for Shandong Taishan in the Chinese Super League. Club career Li Hailong was sent to Portugal for further training by Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng (now renamed Shandong Taishan) in 2014. He joined Campeonato de Portugal side Sacavenense in the summer of 2014 and played in both senior team and U-19 team. Zhou Yuchen (; born 12 January 1995) is a Chinese professional footballer who currently plays as a goalkeeper for Chinese Super League club Guangzhou City. Club career In 2005, Zhou Yuchen joined Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng Taishan's football school, where he converted from a defender into a goalkeeper. Zhang Yuan (; born 28 January 1997) is a Chinese footballer who currently plays for Chinese Super League side Shenzhen FC. Club career Zhang Yuan joined Dalian Aerbin's youth academy in 2013 after Dalian Shide dissolved. He was loaned to Portuguese side Mafra in the summer of 2013 and joined Loures in 2015. Guangzhou Football Club, formerly known as Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao Football Club, is a professional Chinese football club that participates in the Chinese Super League under the license of the Chinese Football Association. Tang Shi (; born 24 January 1995) is a Chinese footballer who currently plays as a left winger for Heilongjiang Ice City. Club career Tang Shi started his football career with Wuhan Optics Valley and joined Shandong Luneng's youth academy in 2009 after Wuhan's disbandment.
