2017–18 Missouri Valley Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2017–18 Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2017, followed by the start of the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Conference play began in late December 2017 and concluded in March with the Missouri Valley Conference tournament at Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri. With a win against Evansville on February 18, 2018, Loyola clinched at least a share of its first-ever Missouri Valley Conference regular season championship. With a win over Southern Illinois on February 21, the Ramblers clinched the outright MVC championship. Loyola defeated Illinois State in the championship game to win the MVC tournament and received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. 2017–18 Southern Illinois Salukis Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Southern Illinois Salukis men's basketball team represented Southern Illinois University Carbondale during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Salukis, led by sixth-year head coach Barry Hinson, played their home games at the SIU Arena in Carbondale, Illinois as members of the Missouri Valley Conference. Brian Wardle (basketball)
Brian Wardle (born October 9, 1979) is an American college basketball coach and the current men's basketball coach at Bradley University. Biography Born in Clarendon Hills, Illinois, Wardle played for Marquette from 1997–2001, ending his career as the third-leading scorer in school history. As a senior, he averaged 18.8 points per game. After college, Wardle played in the NBA Developmental League and the Continental Basketball Association. He was director of basketball operations at Marquette from 2003–2005 and an assistant coach at UW-Green Bay from 2005–2010. After the 2009-2010 season, Wardle was named head coach at UW-Green Bay. The Furman Paladins men's basketball team is the basketball team that represents Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, United States. Niko Medved
Niko Medved (born August 10, 1973) is an American college basketball coach, currently the head men's basketball coach at Colorado State University. Prior to becoming head coach at Colorado State, he was head coach at Drake University and Furman. Early life and education Born in Minneapolis, Medved graduated from Roseville Area High School in nearby Roseville, Minnesota in 1992. In high school, Medved was a letterwinner in basketball and golf. Assistant coach Medved was an assistant coach at Furman from 1999 to 2006. He spent a year as assistant at his alma mater, Minnesota, under Dan Monson (who resigned mid-season) and Jim Molinari. Jeff Rutter (born January 28, 1965) is an American basketball coach. He currently serves as an assistant men's basketball coach at Western Michigan. Raymond Bryan Giacoletti (born April 14, 1962) is a retired men's basketball coach, having served as head coach at Drake University, and The University of Utah. He played collegiate basketball at Minot State University in North Dakota from 1980 to 1984, where he was a four-year letterman and a team captain for two seasons. He received his degree in physical education in 1985. Giacoletti was previously the head coach at North Dakota State University, Eastern Washington University, and the University of Utah. At Utah, he was a finalist for the Naismith Coach of the Year Award in 2005, he was also named the 2005 Playboy National Coach of the Year. Giacoletti resigned as Drake coach on December 6, 2016. The Drake Bulldogs men's basketball team represents Drake University, located in Des Moines, Iowa, in NCAA Division I basketball competition and is coached by Darian DeVries. The program is best known for making the 1969 Final Four. History The early years (1906–1959) The first season Drake fielded a men's basketball team was 1906–07. The Bulldogs finished with a 2–1 record as an independent. The next year, during the 1907–08 season, they were charter members of the Missouri Valley Conference. Drake went on to dominate the 1930s, winning three conference titles in the decade (1934–35, 1935–36, and 1938–39). The 2017–18 Drake Bulldogs men's basketball team represented Drake University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bulldogs were led by first-year head coach Niko Medved. They played their home games at Knapp Center in Des Moines, Iowa as members of the Missouri Valley Conference.
