2017–18 Michigan Wolverines Women's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Michigan Wolverines women's basketball team represents the University of Michigan during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Wolverines, led by 6th year head coach Kim Barnes Arico, play their home games at the Crisler Center and are currently a member of the Big Ten Conference. They finished the season 23–10, 10–6 in Big Ten play to finish in sixth place. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the Big Ten women's tournament where they lost to Nebraska. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA women's tournament where they defeated Northern Colorado before losing to Baylor in the second round. Kim Barnes Arico
Kimberly Ann Barnes Arico (born August 9, 1970) is an American women's basketball coach, and the current head coach of the Michigan Wolverines women's basketball team. Previously, she was head coach of the St. John's University women's basketball team. She was inducted to the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame in 2020. Coaching career On May 7, 2002, Barnes was named the head coach at St. John's University. She was named the seventh head coach in the then 28-year history of the women's basketball program. She currently holds the record for most wins at the program and led the Red Storm to their first ever Sweet Sixteen appearance in the 2012 NCAA tournament. During the 2017–18 season, she became the winningest coach in Michigan Wolverines women's basketball program history. She is the only coach in program history with six straight 20-win seasons. The 2017–18 Louisville Cardinals women's basketball team represented the University of Louisville during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Cardinals, led by 11th-year head coach Jeff Walz, played their home games at the KFC Yum! Center in their fourth year in the Atlantic Coast Conference. They finished the season 36–3, 15–1 in ACC play to win a share of the regular season title. They defeated Virginia Tech, NC State, and Notre Dame to win the ACC women's tournament. The 2017–18 Liberty Lady Flames basketball team represents Liberty University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Eagles, led by nineteenth-year head coach Carey Green, play their home games at the Vines Center and were members of the Big South Conference. They finished the season 24–10, 16–3 in Big South play win the Big South regular season title. They won the 2018 Big South Conference women's basketball tournament, Big South women's basketball tournament and earned an automatic place in the 2018 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament, NCAA women's tournament where they lost to Tennessee in the first round. The Grand Valley State Lakers are the intercollegiate athletic teams of Grand Valley State University, located in Allendale, Michigan, United States.
