2017–18 Formula 4 UAE Championship
The 2017–18 Formula 4 UAE Championship was the second season of the Formula 4 UAE Championship, a motor racing series for the United Arab Emirates regulated according to FIA Formula 4 regulations, and organised and promoted by the Automobile & Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE) and AUH Motorsports. It began on 14 December 2017 at the Yas Marina Circuit and finished on 3 March 2018 at the Dubai Autodrome, after 24 championship races held across six quadruple-header rounds. Teams and drivers Race calendar and results The calendar was announced on 5 September 2017. The season featured six quadruple-header rounds, all of them held at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi and the Dubai Autodrome in the United Arab Emirates. As opposed to the previous season, all rounds awarded points for the championship, the "Trophy Event" non-championship round not being held anymore. Charles Weerts (born 1 March 2001) is a Belgian racing driver who currently competes in the GT World Challenge Europe. On December 8 2022 Weerts was announced as a factory driver for BMW M Motorsport where he'll continue to drive for Team WRT. Career Junior formula Weerts made his single-seater debut in 2017, joining Team Motopark for the 2017 ADAC Formula 4 season, alongside the final three races of the Formula 4 UAE Championship. During the 2017 ADAC F4 season, he would score 22nd in the overall classification and second in the Rookie Championship, scoring just three points towards the drivers' title. The following Formula 4 UAE season, Weerts was crowned series champion, sweeping the final quadruple-header round at Dubai Autodrome en route to a 50-point points lead over second-placed David Schumacher. MRF Challenge is an open-wheel motorsport formula based in India organized by Madras Motor Sports Club. This was India's first and only FIA FIA is the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (English: International Automobile Federation), the world's governing body for all forms of motor sport where four or more wheels are used. This was promoted as a Winter series where young and upcoming racing drivers could get valuable seat and track time during the off-season months in competitive tracks in Asia.
