2017–18 FC Porto Season
The 2017–18 FC Porto season was the club's 108th competitive season and the 84th consecutive season in the top flight of Portuguese football. The season began on 9 August 2017 and concluded on 12 May 2018. Porto won the 2017–18 Primeira Liga title in the penultimate matchday following a draw between direct rivals Benfica and Sporting CP. In so doing, they secured their first league title since the 2012–13 season and first overall title since the 2013 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira. Porto also competed in the 2017–18 Taça da Liga and the 2017–18 Taça de Portugal; in both competitions, they reached the semi-finals but were eliminated by Sporting CP after a penalty shootout. Futebol Clube do Porto, MHIH, OM (), commonly known as FC Porto or simply Porto, is a Portuguese professional sports club based in Porto. It is best known for the professional football team playing in the Primeira Liga, the top flight of Portuguese football. 2018–19 FC Porto Season
The 2018–19 season was Futebol Clube do Porto's 109th competitive season and 85th consecutive season in the top flight of Portuguese football. It began on 4 August 2018 and concluded on 25 May 2019. Porto started the season with a 3–1 victory in the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira against the 2017–18 Taça de Portugal holders, Desportivo das Aves, which secured the club's 21st Supertaça win and first since 2013. Porto led the 2018–19 Primeira Liga for more than half of the season, but lost it to Benfica on 2 March 2019, after a 1–2 home defeat. Futebol Clube do Porto B, commonly known as Porto B, is a Portuguese professional football team, which serves as the reserve side of FC Porto. They compete in the Liga Portugal 2, the second division of Portuguese football, and play their home matches at the Estádio Municipal Jorge Sampaio in Pedroso, Vila Nova de Gaia. Domestically, Porto B were the first and currently, the only Portuguese reserve side to have won the second division title after a successful campaign in the 2015–16 season. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. The 2013 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira was the 35th edition of the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira, the annual Portuguese football season-opening match contested by the winners of the previous season's top league and cup competitions (or cup runner-up in case the league- and cup-winning club is the same). It took place on 10 August 2013 at the Estádio Municipal de Aveiro in Aveiro, and was contested between Porto, the 2012–13 Primeira Liga winners, and Vitória de Guimarães, the 2012–13 Taça de Portugal winners. The 2012–13 Primeira Liga (also known as Liga ZON Sagres for sponsorship reasons) was the 79th season of the Primeira Liga, the top professional league for Portuguese association football clubs.
