2017–18 Colchester United F.C. Season
The 2017–18 season was Colchester United's 81st season in their history and their second successive season competing in League Two. Along with competing in League Two, the club will also participate in the FA Cup, EFL Cup and EFL Trophy. A poor start to the new campaign meant that Colchester were chasing to catch up from the off. An upturn in form came about over the Christmas period, reaching a high of fifth in the table. Again, the U's were made to pay with a drop in late season form, where they eventually in the bottom-half of League Two. Finishing 13th, this was Colchester's worst league performance since the 1993–94 season when the U's finished 17th in the Third Division. Colchester made a first round exit in the EFL Cup for the seventh consecutive season, narrowly losing out to Aston Villa, while in the FA Cup, they were eliminated by non-League outfit Oxford City in the first round. The English Football League Two (often referred to as League Two for short or Sky Bet League Two for sponsorship purposes, and known as the Football League Two from 2004 until 2016) is the third and lowest division of the English Football League (EFL) and fourth-highest division overall in the English football league system. George Elokobi
George Nganyuo Elokobi (born 31 January 1986) is a Cameroonian former professional footballer who played as a defender and is interim manager at Maidstone United. Elokobi moved from his native Cameroon to England at the age of 16, where he entered non-League football with Dulwich Hamlet. After a trial period, he was signed by Colchester United. Thomas Michael Eastman (born 21 October 1991) is an English professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Harrogate Town on loan from club Colchester United. Eastman is a product of the Ipswich Town Academy, where he progressed through the ranks since the age of eight before making his first-team debut in 2010, a match in which he was sent off for a second bookable offence. Femi Akinwande
Obafemi Karl Akinwande (born 1 May 1996) is an English professional footballer who plays as a striker for Hastings United. Akinwande began his career in Millwall's youth academy and spent nine years there before joining Dartford in 2013. Lloyd Colin Doyley (born 1 December 1982) is a former professional footballer who played as a defender. He is assistant manager at Boreham Wood, arriving in June 2021.
