The 2017–18 season is the 135th season in Bristol Rovers' history and their 90th in the English Football League. Rovers will compete in the third tier of English football, League One as well as three cup competitions, FA Cup, EFL Cup and EFL Trophy. Bristol () is a city, ceremonial county and unitary authority in England. EFL Trophy
The English Football League Trophy, known for sponsorship purposes as the Papa Johns Trophy after restaurant chain Papa John's Pizza, is an annual English association football knockout competition open to all clubs in EFL League One and EFL League Two, with the addition of 16 under-21 teams from Premier League and EFL Championship clubs since the 2016–17 season. It is the 3rd most prestigious knockout competition in English football after the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. Tom Nichols (footballer)
Tom Andrew Nichols (born 28 August 1993) is an English professional footballer who plays as a striker for League Two club Gillingham. Having come through Exeter City's academy, Nichols made his first-team debut for the club in May 2011. Whilst at Exeter City, he had loan spells at Dorchester Town, Hereford United and Bath City before establishing himself as a first team player in League Two. He joined Peterborough United of League One on a four-and-a-half-year contract for an undisclosed fee on 1 February 2016, but joined Bristol Rovers on a three-year contract in summer 2017. Forwards (also known as attackers) are outfield positions in an association football team who play the furthest up the pitch and are therefore most responsible for scoring goals as well as assisting them. Adam Clifford Smith (born 23 November 1992) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for side Morecambe. Career Early career Born in Sunderland, Smith joined Leicester City from Middlesbrough in 2010. Blackpool is a seaside resort in Lancashire, England. Located on the northwest coast of England, it is the main settlement within the borough also called Blackpool. Sam Slocombe
Sam Oliver Slocombe (born 5 June 1988) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Notts County. He began his career with Bottesford Town in the Northern Counties East Football League. In 2008, he moved to his hometown club Scunthorpe United. Slocombe had made over 130 appearances for Scunthorpe and was the club's longest-serving player, before being released by them in 2015. Liam Michael Sercombe (born 25 April 1990) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Cheltenham Town. Career Exeter City Sercombe came through the youth ranks at Exeter City, and signed a full professional contract with the club in June 2007. Sercombe made a number of appearances at reserve team level before making his debut on 11 August 2007 against Altrincham in the Conference National, coming on after just 11 minutes to replace the injured Andy Taylor.
