2017 Vuelta A Murcia
The 2017 Vuelta a Murcia was the 37th edition of the Vuelta a Murcia road cycling one day race. It was part of the 2017 UCI Europe Tour, as a 1.1 categorised race. The race was won for a record-extending fifth time by local rider Alejandro Valverde of the , attacking the peloton with around remaining, and soloing away to victory by over two minutes from his closest competitor. In the sprint finish from a select group of 20 riders, Jhonatan Restrepo () took second place ahead of 's Patrick Konrad. Teams Twenty teams were invited to take part in the race. These included six UCI WorldTeams, eight UCI Professional Continental teams, five UCI Continental teams and a Spanish national team. 2017 UCI Europe Tour
The 2017 UCI Europe Tour was the thirteenth season of the UCI Europe Tour. The 2017 season began on 26 January 2017 with the Vuelta a Mallorca, Trofeo Santanyí-Ses Salines-Campos and ended on 17 October 2017 with the Nationale Sluitingsprijs. Belgium, Belgian rider Baptiste Planckaert (), who scored 1,605 points in the 2016 UCI Europe Tour, 2016 edition, was the defending champion of the UCI Europe Tour. Nacer Bouhanni () won the overall standings for the second time in three years; won the team classification, while France won both the overall nations' title and the under-23 equivalent. Emanuel Buchmann (born 18 November 1992) is a German professional racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . In 2015 he won the German National Road Race Championships. Pieter Weening (born 5 April 1981) is a Dutch former professional road bicycle racer, who rode professionally for the (2004–2011), (2012–2015), (2016–2019), and (2020) teams. Career Weening was born in Harkema, Friesland. 2005 In 2005 Weening won a stage in the Tour de France. The Vuelta Ciclista a Murcia ( en, Tour of Murcia) is a road bicycle race held in and around Murcia, Spain. The first four editions were reserved to amateurs.
