2017 Venezuelan Primera División Season
The 2017 Primera División season was the 36th professional season of Venezuela's top-flight football league. Zamora were the defending champions, but did not qualify to the Serie Final, after being eliminated by Monagas in the quarter-finals of the Torneo Apertura and by Deportivo Lara in the quarter-finals of the Torneo Clausura. Monagas were the champions, defeating Deportivo Lara in the Serie Final, 2–1 on aggregate. Venezuelan Primera División
The Primera División (; en, First Division), or Liga Venezolana (; en, Venezuelan League) is the top-flight professional football league of Venezuela. It was created in 1921 and turned professional in 1957. It is organized by the Federación Venezolana de Fútbol. Format Starting in the 2020 season, the 20 teams play in a home-and-away round-robin tournament, with the top eight teams advancing to the semi-final stage. In the semi-final stage, the eight teams are divided in two groups of four teams each, facing the other teams in their group twice. The two group winners will advance to the Serie Final to decide the league champions. Metropolitanos FC
Metropolitanos Fútbol Club is a Venezuelan professional football club based in Caracas. Founded in 2012, they play in the Venezuelan Primera División, holding home matches at the Estadio Olímpico de la UCV. History Founded on 3 August 2012 under the name of ''Deportivo Metropolitano'', the club took Lara FC's place in the Segunda División for the 2012–13 season, as the latter had severe financial problems. After Lara's dissolution, Unión Lara SC was refounded and started to play in the Tercera División. After finishing fourth and missing out promotion, Metropolitanos achieved promotion to the Primera División at the end of the 2013–14 campaign, after finishing in the second position. Zulia Fútbol Club was a professional football club that last competed in the Primera División Venezolana. The club was based in Maracaibo, Zulia State, Venezuela, and it's internationally recognized for his participation in the 2019 Copa Sudamericana, where the club was eliminated by Colón de Santa Fe, Argentinian club, in quarter-finals. On 12 December 2022, it was announced that Zulia would merge into Segunda División side Deportivo Rayo Zuliano, with the latter taking the former's place in the Venezuelan Primera División. Trujillanos Fútbol Club is a Venezuelan football team playing at the top level, the Primera División Venezolana. It is based in Valera. Their home stadium is Estadio Luis Loreto Lira.
