2017 Speedway Grand Prix Of Scandinavia
The 2017 Stockholm FIM Speedway Grand Prix was the tenth race of the 2017 Speedway Grand Prix season. It took place on September 22 at the Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. Riders First reserve Peter Kildemand replaced Greg Hancock, second reserve Martin Smolinski replaced Nicki Pedersen and third reserve Max Fricke replaced Niels-Kristian Iversen. The Speedway Grand Prix Commission also nominated Kim Nilsson as the wild card, and Jacob Thorssell and Filip Hjelmland both as Track Reserves. Results The Grand Prix was won by Slovenia's Matej Žagar, who beat Bartosz Zmarzlik, Jason Doyle and Peter Kildemand in the final. It was Zagar's second successive Grand Prix win after finishing first in Germany the round before. Doyle, who equalled the record number of final appearances in one season with nine, initially top scored in the qualifying heats, however third place saw him move 22 points clear of Patryk Dudek, who failed to make the semi-finals. The 2017 IPONE German FIM Speedway Grand Prix was the ninth race of the 2017 Speedway Grand Prix season. It took place on September 9 at the Bergring Arena in Teterow, Germany. Riders First reserve Peter Kildemand replaced Greg Hancock, second reserve Martin Smolinski replaced Nicki Pedersen and third reserve Max Fricke replaced Niels-Kristian Iversen. The Speedway Grand Prix Commission also nominated Kai Huckenbeck as the wild card, and Tobias Kroner and Mathias Bartz both as Track Reserves. Results The Grand Prix was won by Slovenia's Matej Žagar, who beat Martin Vaculík, Jason Doyle and Chris Holder in the final. Niels Kristian Trochmann Iversen (, born 20 June 1982 in Esbjerg, Denmark) is an international motorcycle speedway rider. He was part of the Danish teams that won the Speedway World Cup in 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2014. Early life Niels-Kristian Trochmann was born 20 June 1982 in Esbjerg, Denmark to Ann Marie and Flemming Iversen. Growing up with older brother Soren, Iversen decided he want to be a speedway rider. His local town Esbjerg had a track where Iversen began to learn his desired trade. Quickly moving up the ranks in Denmark, his first title came in 1994 at the 50cc Danish Individual Championship. Martin Vaculík (born 5 April 1990) is a Slovak motorcycle speedway rider who is riding for the Stal Gorzów Wielkopolski in the Speedway Ekstraliga, Polish Speedway Ekstraliga. Antonio Lindbäck (born 5 May 1985 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider who competed in the Speedway World Championship, finishing eighth in 2016, and was a member of the Swedish team who won the Speedway World Cup in 2004 and 2015. Jan Fredrik Tobias (Freddie) Lindgren (born 15 September 1985) is a Swedish motorcycle speedway rider. He has twice won the bronze medal at the Speedway World Championship and won the world team championships in 2015. Career Born in Örebro, Sweden. Christopher Robert Holder (born 24 September 1987 in Sydney, New South Wales) is an Australian speedway rider currently riding for Lejonen in the Swedish Elitserien and for Apator Toruń in the Polish Speedway Ekstraliga.
