2017 Rally Sweden
The 2017 Rally Sweden (formally known as the Rally Sweden 2017) was a motor racing event for rally cars that was held over three days between 10 and 12 February 2017. It marked the sixty-fifth running of the Rally Sweden, and was the second round of the 2017 World Rally Championship and the WRC-2 and WRC-3 championships. Toyota's driver Jari-Matti Latvala won the rally ahead of M-Sport drivers Ott Tänak and Sébastien Ogier who finished second and third, respectively. The win for Toyota was their first after their return to the WRC after a 17 year absence. Latvala had inherited the lead after rally leader Thierry Neuville had crashed out on the final stage of leg 2. The Belgian had a lead of 43.3 seconds before ripping a wheel off in the second run of the Karlstad stage, promoting Latvala to first place. 2017 World Rally Championship
The 2017 FIA World Rally Championship was the 45th season of the World Rally Championship, an auto racing championship recognised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) as the highest class of international rallying. Teams and crews contested in thirteen events—starting in Monte Carlo on 19 January and ending in Australia on 19 November—for the World Rally Championships for Drivers, Co-drivers and Manufacturers. Drivers were free to compete in cars complying with World Rally Car and Group R regulations; however, only Manufacturers competing with 2017-specification World Rally Cars were eligible to score points in the Manufacturers' championship. Teemu Suninen
Teemu Suninen (born February 1, 1994) is a Finnish rally driver. Suninen was driving for Malcolm Wilson's M-Sport WRT in WRC between 2017 and 2021. His manager is Timo Jouhki. Rally career Suninen won the WRC-3 class in the 2014 Rally Finland and 2015 Rally Italia Sardegna driving a Citroën DS3 R3T, and won the WRC-2 class in the 2015 Wales Rally GB driving a Škoda Fabia S2000. The Finn competed full-time at the 2016 World Rally Championship-2 with a Škoda Fabia R5. He won at Mexico with TGS Worldwide, and at Italy and Poland with Oreca, finishing third in the drivers' championship behind Esapekka Lappi and Elfyn Evans. For the 2017 World Rally Championship-2, he joined M-Sport to drive a Ford Fiesta R5. A World Rally Car is a racing automobile built to the specific regulations set by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and designed for competition in the World Rally Championship (WRC). The cars were introduced in 1997 as a replacement for Group A regulations used in the manufacturers' championship, and were replaced by Group Rally1 in 2022. The Ford Fiesta RS WRC is the World Rally Car built for the Ford World Rally Team by Ford Europe and M-Sport for use in the World Rally Championship 2011–2016. It is based upon the Ford Fiesta road car, and replaced the Ford Focus RS WRC, which competed in various versions since 1999. The Mini John Cooper Works WRC is a World Rally Car debuted by the Mini WRC Team during the 2011 World Rally Championship season. It is the first rally car to bear the Mini label in top-level rallying since the 1960s. The Toyota Yaris WRC is a World Rally Car designed by Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT to compete in the World Rally Championship. The Citroën C3 WRC is a rally car designed and developed by the Citroën World Rally Team to compete in the World Rally Championship. The Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC (originally known as the Hyundai New Generation i20 WRC) is a World Rally Car built by Hyundai for use in the World Rally Championship starting in 2017. It is based on the Hyundai i20 subcompact car, and is the successor to the Hyundai i20 WRC used between 2014 and 2015.
