2017 NASCAR Xfinity Series
The 2017 NASCAR Xfinity Series was the 36th season of the Xfinity Series, a stock car racing series sanctioned by the NASCAR in the United States. The season began with the PowerShares QQQ 300 at Daytona International Speedway and ended with the Ford EcoBoost 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Daniel Suárez was the defending drivers' champion while Toyota was the defending manufacturer's champion, although Suárez couldn't defend his title due to him racing in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. During the season, races were broadcast by Fox Sports and NBC Sports for the third consecutive year. William Byron of JR Motorsports won the driver's championship with a third-place finish in the season finale. The NASCAR Xfinity Series Drivers' Championship is awarded by the chairman in NASCAR to the most successful Xfinity Series racing car driver over a season, as determined by a NASCAR rules and regulations#Championship points system, points system based on race results. Kyle Miyata Larson (born July 31, 1992) is an American professional auto racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Hendrick Motorsports. Michael G. Shiplett (born May 17, 1972) is an American NASCAR crew chief who works for Richard Childress Racing as the NASCAR Xfinity Series competition director. Racing career Early career He started his racing career by working in his uncle's racing shop in Ohio, going from working on the street stock cars his uncle owned to being given the opportunity to drive them when he was 15. David Leon Starr (born October 11, 1967) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He last competed part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 08 Ford Mustang for SS-Green Light Racing. He has also raced in the Camping World Truck Series, where he is a four-time race winner, and the NASCAR Cup Series in the past. SS-Green Light Racing is an American professional stock car racing team that currently competes in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, fielding the No. 07 Ford primarily for Joe Graf Jr. and the No. 08 for primarily for David Starr.
