2017 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series
The 2017 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series is the ninth Racecar Euro Series season, and the fifth under the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series branding. Anthony Kumpen enters the season as the defending champion in the Elite 1 class. Stienes Longin entered the season as the defending Elite 2 champion, but he will not defend his title as he moved up to the Elite 1 class. In the Elite 1 class, Alon Day won his first Elite 1 title, winning the championship by 53 points over Anthony Kumpen. In the Elite 2 class, Thomas Ferrando won his first Elite 2 title, finishing ahead of PK Carsport's Guillaume Dumarey by 91 points. Knauf Racing, represented by the No. 37 team, won their first (and only) team's championship title. The season also included one non-championship event, the Trofeo Angelo Caffi, which was held at a temporary track that were laid down for the 2017 Bologna Motor Show and was won by Lorenzo Marcucci. Nicola Larini
Nicola Larini (born 19 March 1964) is an Italian racing driver. He participated in 75 Formula One Grands Prix, debuting on 6 September 1987. He finished second in the tragic 1994 San Marino Grand Prix on a substitute outing for Ferrari, but only scored points once more in his career. He enjoyed greater success in touring car racing, primarily for Alfa Romeo. Early career Born in Lido di Camaiore, Tuscany, Larini began car racing in Formula Italia in 1983, then moved up to Formula Abarth in 1984, placing third overall. Robert Allen Labonte (born May 8, 1964) is an American semi-retired professional stock car racing driver and current analyst for ''NASCAR on Fox''. He also currently competes full-time in the Superstar Racing Experience, driving the No. 18 car. Labonte is the 2000 NASCAR Cup Series champion. Borja García Menéndez (born 15 December 1982 in Valencia) is a Spanish racing driver. He last competed in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, having last driven for Alex Caffi Motorsport in a part-time effort in 2018. He was the 2004 Spanish Formula Three champion, and raced in the inaugural GP2 Series season. Career Garcia was born in Valencia. His career started in karting in 1993, where he stayed until 1999. Alessandro "Alex" Caffi (born 18 March 1964) is an Italian racing driver, former Formula One driver, and team owner. He participated in 75 Grands Prix, debuting on 7 September 1986. Christophe Bouchut (born 24 September 1966 in Voiron, Isère) is a French professional racing driver.
