2017 Military Bowl
The 2017 Military Bowl was a postseason college football bowl game played at Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland, on December 28, 2017. The game was the 10th edition of the Military Bowl and featured the Virginia Cavaliers of the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Navy Midshipmen of the American Athletic Conference. Sponsored by defense contractor Northrop Grumman, the game was officially known as the Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman. Teams Virginia Cavaliers The Virginia Cavaliers finished the regular season with a 6–6 record. This was the team's first appearance in the Military Bowl and their first bowl appearance since 2011. 2017–18 NCAA Football Bowl Games
The 2017–18 NCAA football bowl games was a series of college football bowl games which completed the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The games began on December 16, 2017, and aside from the all-star games ended with the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship which was played on January 8, 2018. The total of 40 team-competitive bowls in FBS, including the national championship game, was one less than the previous year, with the folding of the Poinsettia Bowl. To fill the 78 available bowl slots, a total of 15 teams (19% of all participants) with non-winning (6–6) seasons participated in bowl games. This marks only the second time in seven years that no teams with losing seasons (6–7 or 5–7) had to be invited to fill available bowl berths. Olamide Zaccheaus ( ; born July 23, 1997) is an American football wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Virginia and has played in the NFL for the Atlanta Falcons. Zaccheaus had lived with his family in Plainfield, New Jersey, before moving at age seven to Magnolia, New Jersey. College career Zaccheaus was a member of the Virginia Cavaliers for four seasons. Kurt Benkert (born July 17, 1995) is an American football quarterback who is a free agent. He played college football at East Carolina and Virginia. He originally signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2018, and was also a member of the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers. Malcolm Xiomar Perry (born April 19, 1997) is an officer in the United States Marine Corps and a former American football wide receiver. He attended the United States Naval Academy, where he played college football for the Navy Midshipmen from 2016 to 2019. The son of United States Army personnel, Perry was a military brat who grew up in Tennessee. After high school and attending the Naval Academy Preparatory School, he joined the main campus and football team in 2016, where he played a variety of positions. 2008 EagleBank Bowl
The 2008 EagleBank Bowl was the inaugural edition of the new college football bowl game, and was played at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington, DC. The game, formerly known as the Congressional Bowl before naming rights were purchased by EagleBank, started at 11 AM US EST on Saturday, December 20, 2008, as the first contest of the 2008–09 bowl season. The game, telecast on ESPN, pit the Wake Forest Demon Deacons against the Navy Midshipmen. This was a rematch of a September 27, 2008, game between the two teams that Navy won, 24–17, at Wake Forest. The 2017 Navy Midshipmen football team represented the United States Naval Academy in the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Midshipmen were led by tenth-year head coach Ken Niumatalolo and played their home games at Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The Midshipmen competed as a member of the West Division of the American Athletic Conference and were third-year members of the conference. The 2017 Virginia Cavaliers football team represented the University of Virginia during the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season.
