The 2017 Limerick Senior Hurling Championship was the 123rd staging of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Limerick County Board in 1887. Limerick Senior Hurling Championship
The Limerick Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Bon Secours Hospital County Senior Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Limerick SHC) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Limerick County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking senior clubs in the county of Limerick in Ireland. It is the most prestigious competition in Limerick hurling. The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months with the county final currently being played at the Gaelic Grounds in October. The prize for the winning team is the John Daly Cup. Initially played as a knock-out competition, the championship currently uses a round robin format followed by a knock-out stage. The Limerick County Championship is an integral part of the wider Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship. Gaelic Grounds
The Gaelic Grounds, know for sponsorshop reasons as the TUS Gaelic Grounds, is the principal GAA stadium in the Irish city of Limerick, home to the Limerick hurling and football teams. It has a capacity of 44,023. History 9 October 1926 saw first steps taken towards creating the Limerick Gaelic Grounds as a GAA stadium of note. A farm containing was purchased at Coolraine on the Ennis Road for development as a sporting grounds. Two years later the new grounds officially opened with two junior hurling games. The first big effort to raise funds for the development of the grounds was in 1932, with the establishment of a development committee, whose remit was to level the pitch, providing sideline seating and erect a boundary wall. The 1950s saw crowds of up to 50,000 attending games in the grounds. 1958 saw a new stand being built at Páirc na nGael – it was the Old Hogan Stand from Croke Park. Claughaun GAA
Claughaun Gaelic Athletic Club ( ga, CLG Chlochán) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club within Limerick GAA, based in St Brigid's parish on the southside of Limerick City, Ireland. The club was founded in 1902, in the Poulin/Pennywell area of St John's parish. It has considerable success over the years in both hurling and Gaelic football. The club grounds are located on the Childers Road, at what has become a prominent venue for games of all levels. The club was relegated to intermediate status in both football and hurling following the 2010 championships. Killmallock
Kilmallock () is a town in south County Limerick, Ireland, near the border with County Cork. There is a Dominican Priory in the town and King's Castle (or King John's Castle). The remains of medieval walls which encircled the settlement are still visible. Adare GAA
Adare GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association, GAA club based in Adare, County Limerick, Republic of Ireland. Adare have reached the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship, County Senior Hurling Final on 12 occasions. After losing the finals of 1968, 1986, 1990, 1993 and 1996, they finally won their first championship in 2001 and successfully defended it in 2002. In 2003, they narrowly missed out on winning three county titles in a row after losing out to Patrickswell GAA, Patrickswell in the final. Na Piarsaigh () is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated on the north side of Limerick City, Ireland. It was founded in 1968. Following their 1–15 to 3–11 victory in the 2022 Limerick Intermediate Football Championship over St Senan's, Na Piarsaigh are one of Four dual senior club in hurling and Gaelic football in Limerick. The club currently field five adult teams three in hurling (senior, Intermediate & Junior) and two in football (Senior & Junior), the most of any club in Limerick.
