2017 Individual Speedway Junior World Championship
The 2017 Individual Speedway Under 21 World Championship was the 41st edition of the FIM Individual Under-21 World Championship and was staged over three rounds, at Poznań, Güstrow and Pardubice. Maksym Drabik of Poland won the title. Final series Classification The meeting classification was according to the points scored during the meeting, with the total points scored by each rider during each meeting credited as ''World Championship points''. The FIM Speedway Under 21 World Champion was the rider who collected most World Championship points at the end of the series. In case of a tie between one or more riders in the final overall classification, a run-off decided the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. For all other placings, the better-placed rider in the last meeting was the better placed rider. Individual Speedway Junior World Championship
The Speedway Under-21 World Championship is an annual speedway event held each year organized by the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) since 1977. As of 2022, the title was awarded to the winner of the SGP2 category at the FIM Speedway World Championship. History Between 1977 and 1987 the Championship was the called Individual Speedway Junior European Championship (European Speedway Under 21 Championship), open only to European riders. In 1979, the Championship allowed riders from other continents to compete, but was renamed to the Speedway World Under 21 Championship in 1988. A new competition was named Individual Speedway Junior European Championship was founded by the European Motorcycle Union (UEM) in 1998, only open to European competitors. 2017 Team Speedway Junior World Championship
The 2017 Team Speedway Junior World Championship was the 13th FIM Team Under-21 World Championship season. The final took place on 2 September, 2017 in Rybnik, Poland. Hosts Poland won their tenth Team Under-21 World Championship, and their fourth in succession. The Poles accumulated 47 points, with Bartosz Smektała top scoring for them with 14 points. 2017 Speedway Grand Prix
The 2017 Speedway Grand Prix season was the 23rd season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, and decided the 72nd FIM Speedway World Championship. It was seventeenth series under the promotion of Benfield Sports International, an IMG company. The world title was won by Jason Doyle, who finished ahead of debutant Patryk Dudek and former two-time champion Tai Woffinden. It was the first title of Doyle's career, and the first time an Australian had lifted the trophy since Chris Holder in 2012. Defending champion Greg Hancock was unable to complete the season after suffering an injury, competing in only six of the 12 rounds. Qualification For the 2017 season there were 15 permanent riders, joined at each Grand Prix by one wild card and two track reserves. Alexander Woentin (born 3 July 2000) is a speedway rider from Sweden. Speedway career Woentin came to prominence in 2017, when he qualified for the finals of both the World U21 Championship and the European U19 Championship.
