2017 IAAF World Cross Country Championships
The 2017 IAAF World Cross Country Championships was hosted in the city of Kampala, Uganda's capital. This 42nd edition was held on 26 March 2017. The venue was Kampala Airport, commonly known as Kololo airstrip, or officially, the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds. A few modifications were made to make the track challenging. Schedule In keeping with past events, all five races, including the newly introduced mixed relay, were held in the afternoon. The first event was the inaugural mixed relay race, which was won by Kenya. The junior races preceded the senior races, and the senior men's event concluded the programme. Participation A total of 553 athletes from 59 countries were scheduled to participate.

Jacob Kiplimo
Jacob Kiplimo (born 14 November 2000) is a Ugandan long-distance runner. He is 2020 Tokyo Olympic 10,000 metres bronze medallist and also won bronze in the event at the 2022 World Athletics Championships. Kiplimo earned gold medals in the 5000 metres and 10,000 m at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. He is the 2020 World Half Marathon champion. On 21 November 2021, Kiplimo set a half marathon world record at 57:31 in Lisbon. At age 15, Kiplimo represented his country at the 2016 Rio Olympics. He was the 2017 IAAF World Cross Country Championship junior champion. In 2019, he became the World Cross Country Championship silver medallist at the age of 18. The country is bordered to the east by Kenya, to the north by South Sudan, to the west by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to the south-west by Rwanda, and to the south by Tanzania. Letesenbet Gidey (Tigrinya: ለተሰንበት ግደይ, born 20 March 1998) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who holds three world records plus one world best.
