Alizé Cornet was the defending champion, but withdrew before the tournament began due to a back injury. Elise Mertens won her first WTA singles title, defeating Monica Niculescu in the final, 6–3, 6–1. Mertens had come through the qualifying tournament and thus became only the third qualifier to win the Hobart International, following Mona Barthel in 2012 and Garbiñe Muguruza in 2014. Elise Mertens
Elise Mertens (; born 17 November 1995) is a Belgian professional tennis player. She is a former world No. 1 in doubles. Mertens is a three-time Grand Slam champion in doubles, having won the 2019 US Open and 2021 Australian Open partnering Aryna Sabalenka, and the 2021 Wimbledon Championships with Hsieh Su-wei. Mertens also finished runner-up at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships with Zhang Shuai. Jana Fett (; born 2 November 1996) is a Croatian tennis player. On 30 October 2017, Fett reached her best singles ranking of world No. 97, and on 21 May 2018, she reached her best doubles ranking of No. 348.
