2017 FEI European Championships
The 2017 FEI European Championships was held in Gothenburg, Sweden, from 21 to 27 August 2017. Equestrian competitions were held in four disciplines: jumping, dressage, driving and para-dressage. The main venues were Ullevi, Heden and Slottsskogen. Gothenburg
Gothenburg (; abbreviated Gbg; sv, Göteborg ) is the second-largest city in Sweden, fifth-largest in the Nordic countries, and capital of the Västra Götaland County. Bertram Allen (equestrian)
Bertram Allen (born 1 August 1995) is an Irish show jumping rider. Originally from Wexford, he has won international medals at the pony, junior, and senior level. He won the opening round of the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Normandy at age 19, receiving international recognition. Allen is the youngest winner of a Grand Prix on the Longines Global Champions Tour, and was a team gold medalist at the 2017 European Championship in Gothenburg. He runs his Ballywalter Stables in Hünxe with his sister, April, who manages the operation. Allen has been based in Germany since 2011. Cian O'Connor
Cian O'Connor (born 12 November 1979) is an Irish equestrian who competes in show jumping. He has competed at three Olympic Games, four World Championships and six European Championships, and has attained 133 senior caps for his country. He won an individual bronze medal at the London Olympic Games 2012 and was a member of the Irish team that took a gold medal at the European Championships in Gothenburg in 2017. O’Connor also won a bronze individual medal at the latter event. Harrie Smolders (born 10 May 1980) is a Dutch Olympic show jumping rider. He competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he placed 7th in the team and 27th in the individual competition. Smolders participated at the 2010 World Equestrian Games and at the 2009 European Championships. He finished 4th in the team jumping event at the 2009 Europeans held at Windsor Castle. Therese Nilshagen (born 24 January 1983) is a Swedish dressage rider. At the European Championships in Gothenburg 2017, she won team silver and at the Rotterdam 2019, she won team bronze, both with the black stallion Dante Weltino OLD. Anna Kasprzak (born 8 December 1989) is a Danish dressage rider. She represented Denmark at two Summer Olympics (in 2012 and 2016). Her best Olympic result came in 2012 when she placed 4th with a Danish team in the team competition. Meanwhile, her best individual Olympic result is 14th place achieved in 2016.
