2017 Exeter Sevens
The 2017 Exeter Sevens was the final tournament of the 2017 Sevens Grand Prix Series, hosted in Sandy Park at Exeter. Russia won the tournament, defeating Wales in the final. Ireland's Jordan Conroy was named player of the tournament. This tournament settled the two European teams to be invited to the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens, with Russia and Ireland progressing. 2017 Rugby Europe Men's Sevens Championships
The 2017 Rugby Europe Sevens Grand Prix served as a European qualifier not only for the 2018 Hong Kong Sevens qualifier tournament, but for two bids among the teams not already qualified for the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens. Schedule Standings The 2017 Grand Prix Series serves as a qualifying event for two other tournaments: * The three highest ranked European teams (other than the five teams below marked with a "C" that are not already core teams in the Sevens World Series) will qualify to the 2018 Hong Kong Sevens, with a chance to qualify for the 2018–19 World Rugby Sevens Series. * The top two teams (other than the three teams marked with a "Q" that already qualified) will qualify for the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens. *Poland cannot be relegated due to being a host nation. Sandy Park
Sandy Park is a rugby union stadium and conference and banqueting centre in Exeter, England. It is the home ground of Exeter Chiefs, who from the 2010–11 season have been playing in the Gallagher Premiership, the top flight of the English rugby union league system. The club relocated there from their former stadium at the County Ground in 2006. The stadium can hold 15,600 spectators and is located adjacent to M5 junction 30, which is around 5 miles from Exeter City Centre. Sandy Park played host to the England Saxons vs Ireland Wolfhounds on 28 January 2012; the England Saxons won 23–17. Expansion In the summer of 2012 the club announced a five-year plan to redevelop the ground to hold 20,600, which will be carried out in phases, starting with the existing west stand to provide a much larger bar area and extending the grandstand the full length of the pitch (in place of the existing temporary seating). Exeter () is a city in Devon, South West England. It is situated on the River Exe, approximately northeast of Plymouth and southwest of Bristol. 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens
The 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens was the seventh edition of the Rugby World Cup Sevens. Organised by World Rugby, it was held at AT&T Park, now known as Oracle Park, in San Francisco, United States. A total of 84 matches were played over three days from July 20–22, 2018. The men’s tournament had 24 teams and the women’s tournament 16, with both tournaments being played for the first time in a knock-out only format. New Zealand won the championship for both events — defeating England in the men's final and France in the women's final.
