2016 Exeter Sevens
The 2016 Exeter Sevens is the second tournament of the 2016 Sevens Grand Prix Series. It will be held over the weekend of 9–10 July 2016. Teams 12 teams participated in the tournament. 2016 Rugby Europe Men's Sevens Championships
The 2016 Rugby Europe Sevens Grand Prix Series competition was restructured from the previous year, now with four divisions: Sevens Grand Prix Series, the Trophy, Conference 1, and Conference 2. In preparation for the 2016 Olympics, instead of England, Scotland, and Wales fielding their own teams, two unified teams, the Great Britain Royals and the Great Britain Lions, took part in the Grand Prix. 2017 Exeter Sevens
The 2017 Exeter Sevens was the final tournament of the 2017 Sevens Grand Prix Series, hosted in Sandy Park at Exeter. Russia won the tournament, defeating Wales in the final. Ireland's Jordan Conroy was named player of the tournament. This tournament settled the two European teams to be invited to the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens, with Russia and Ireland progressing. Rugby sevens at the 2016 Summer Olympics was held over six days in August 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. The 2016 Olympics was the debut for rugby sevens at the Summer Olympics, though rugby union was last played at the 1924 games. The usual laws of rugby sevens applied. Changes Though rugby has not been featured in the Olympics since the 1924 Summer Olympics in any form, the IOC chose to re-introduce the seven-a-side version of the sport for the games. The sport will feature for this olympics and the 2020 Summer Olympics. Venue The rugby competition took place in a temporary arena at Deodoro Stadium. The original plan was to stage the rugby matches at the São Januário Stadium. However this was scrapped because the club in charge of the venue missed the deadline to present its project. Sandy Park
Sandy Park is a rugby union stadium and conference and banqueting centre in Exeter, England. It is the home ground of Exeter Chiefs, who from the 2010–11 season have been playing in the Gallagher Premiership, the top flight of the English rugby union league system. The club relocated there from their former stadium at the County Ground in 2006. The stadium can hold 15,600 spectators and is located adjacent to M5 junction 30, which is around 5 miles from Exeter City Centre. Exeter Sevens
Exeter () is a city in Devon, South West England. It is situated on the River Exe, approximately northeast of Plymouth and southwest of Bristol.
