2017 Division 1 (Swedish Football)
The 2017 Division 1, part of the 2017 Swedish football season is the 12th season of Sweden's third-tier football league in its current format. The 2017 fixtures were released in December 2016. The season started on 13 April 2017 and will end on 4 November 2017. Teams 28 teams contest the league divided into two divisions, Norra and Södra. 18 returning from the 2016 season, three relegated from Superettan and seven promoted from Division 2. The champion of each division will qualify directly for promotion to Superettan, the two runners-up has to play a play-off against the thirteenth and fourteenth team from Superettan to decide who will play in Superettan 2018. The bottom three teams in each division will qualify directly for relegation to Division 2. Division 1 (Swedish Football)
Ettan Fotboll, or simply Ettan ( en, the one), which also is its common name in everyday speech, is the third level in the Swedish football league system and consists of 32 Swedish football teams. It was formerly simply known as ''Division 1''. Division 1 was the second tier from 1987 to 1999, but was replaced by Superettan in 2000. It was reestablished for the 2006 season as the third tier below Superettan. History The old Division 1 replaced Division 2 as the second highest level in 1987 and consisted of two separate leagues with 14 teams each, Norra (Northern) and Södra (Southern), except for the 1991 and 1992 seasons which comprised 32 teams in four leagues, adding Östra (Eastern) and Västra (Western). 2016 Superettan
The 2016 Superettan, part of the 2016 Swedish football season, was the 16th season of Superettan, Sweden's second-tier football league in its current format. The 2016 fixtures were released in December 2015. The season started in April 2016 and ended in November 2016. Teams A total of 16 teams contested the league. The top two teams qualified directly for promotion to the Allsvenskan, whilst the third had to play a play-off against the fourteenth-placed team in the Allsvenskan to decide who would play in the 2017 Allsvenskan. The bottom two teams were directly relegated to Division 1, whilst the thirteenth and the fourteenth-placed teams had to play-off against the second-placed teams from Division 1 Södra and Division 1 Norra to decide who would play in the 2017 Superettan. 2015 champions Jönköpings Södra IF and runners-up Östersunds FK were promoted to the Allsvenskan at the end of the 2015 season. Botkyrka Municipality ( ) is a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden, not far from the capital Stockholm. Its seat is located in the town of Tumba. In 1971 ''Grödinge'' was merged with Botkyrka and in 1974 ''Salem'' was added. The Salem part was split off again in 1983, and a new Salem Municipality was formed.
