The 2017 Cyprus Women's Cup was the tenth edition of the Cyprus Women's Cup, an invitational women's football tournament held annually in Cyprus. Format The tournament consisted of a group stage, held over three match days followed by a single day of classification matches to determine the final standings. For the group stage, the twelve teams were split into three groups of four teams. Each group played a round-robin tournament with each team playing one match against each other team in its group. The 2016 Cyprus Women's Cup was the ninth edition of the Cyprus Women's Cup, an invitational women's football tournament held annually in Cyprus. After being initially canceled due to schedule conflicts with both UEFA and AFC qualification for the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2016 SheBelieves Cup leaving many of the prior year's participants, including reigning champions England, unable to attend, the tournament was rescheduled with the Football Association of Finland as tournament organizers and a scaled-down field of eight national teams. Austria defeated Poland in a final between two first-time participants in the Cyprus Cup. Lien Mermans
Lien Mermans (born 27 September 1990) is a Belgian football midfielder who last played for VC Moldavo. Club career Mermans started her senior career at Vlimmeren, which later became known as Women's Department Lierse SK. After 1 year with DVC Eva's Tienen, she returned to Lierse where she played from 2010 until 2016. During that period, they won the Belgian Cup twice. At the end of the 2015/16 season, Lierse's women's department folded because of financial problems and Mermans subsequently joined KRC Genk Ladies. Her first year at Genk saw some good performances rewarded with "The Sparkle" trophy - the women's equivalent of the Belgian Golden Shoe. She missed out on most of the 2017/18 season and the UEFA Women's Euro 2017 tournament because of an inflammation on the heart muscle. Fabienne Valérie Humm (born 20 December 1986) is a Swiss football forward, playing for FC Zürich of Switzerland's Nationalliga A. Since her debut in May 2012, a 1–0 win over Ireland, she has been a member of the Switzerland national team. Humm was a late bloomer who did not make her national team debut until the age of 26.
