2017 Channel One Cup
The 2017 Channel One Cup was the 50th edition of the tournament. It was played between 13–17 December 2017. The Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden and Russia with the new teams of Canada (composed of European-contracted players and dubbed the "Z team") and South Korea were involved in the tournament. Andrej Nestrasil (born February 22, 1991) is a Czech professional ice hockey player, who is currently playing under contract to HC Oceláři Třinec in the Czech Extraliga (ELH). Nestrasil was drafted 75th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Junior Nestrasil was drafted by Victoriaville 8th overall in the 2008 CHL Import Draft. During the 2008–09 QMJHL season, Nestrasil skated for the QMJHL's Tigres in his first season in North America. Nestrasil was the second-leading scorer for the Tigres with 22 goals and 35 assists in 66 games. Victoriaville reached the playoffs after finishing third in the Central Division. Matt Ellison (born December 8, 1983) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey right winger. Drafted in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL), Ellison played for the Blackhawks minor teams with two stints in the NHL, before being traded in 2005 to the Philadelphia Flyers. After being traded to the Nashville Predators in 2007, Ellison played one season for the Predators AHL team before moving to play in Europe in 2008. Ellison most notably played abroad in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Playing career Ellison began his career with the Cowichan Valley Capitals, a junior hockey team that is a part of the BCHL, in 1999–00. Marc-André Gragnani (born March 11, 1987) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman currently playing with Djurgårdens IF of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). He spent four-and-a-half seasons playing for the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Portland Pirates. Matt Frattin
Matthew Frattin (born January 3, 1988) is a Canadian professional ice hockey right winger who is currently playing with HC Bolzano in the ICE Hockey League (ICEHL). He began his NHL career with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the organization that drafted him 99th overall in 2007. Frattin also played in the NHL for the Los Angeles Kings and Columbus Blue Jackets before rejoining Toronto in 2014 via a trade. Frattin spent a further season and a half in the Maple Leafs organization before being included in a nine-player trade with the Ottawa Senators. Matt Dalton (born July 4, 1986) is a Canadian–South Korean professional ice hockey goaltender for HL Anyang of the Asia League Ice Hockey (ALIH) and the South Korea men's national ice hockey team. Ben Scrivens (born September 11, 1986) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender and current team manager of the University of Denver men's team. He has also played in the NHL for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers, and Montreal Canadiens. Scrivens played four years with the Cornell Big Red of the ECAC.
