The 2017 Players Championship (officially the 2017 Ladbrokes Players Championship) was a professional ranking snooker tournament played between 6–12 March 2017 at the Venue Cymru in Llandudno, Wales. It was the 17th ranking event of the 2016/2017 season. Prior to this season, this tournament was part of the Players Tour Championship: however, that minor-ranking series was cancelled for this season, and the "Grand Final" event at the end was renamed to be its own ranking event called the ''Players Championship''. Judd Trump (born 20 August 1989) is an English professional snooker player, a former world champion and former world number one. Widely regarded as one of the sport's most talented players, he is currently sixth on the list of all-time ranking event winners, with 23 ranking titles. Barry Hawkins
Barry Hawkins (born 23 April 1979) is an English professional snooker player from Ditton, Kent. He turned professional in 1996, but only rose to prominence in the 2004–05 snooker season, when he reached the last 16 of the 2004 UK Championship, the quarter-finals of the 2004 British Open and the semi-finals of the 2005 Welsh Open. He has now spent twelve successive seasons ranked inside the top 32. Hawkins reached his first ranking final and won his first ranking title at the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open. The 2017 German Masters (officially the 2017 F66.com German Masters) was a professional ranking snooker tournament that took place between 1–5 February 2017 at the Tempodrom in Berlin, Germany. It was the twelfth ranking event of the 2016/2017 season. Martin Gould was the defending champion but he lost 2–6 against Ali Carter in the semi-finals. Tom Ford made the 128th official maximum break and the third of his career in the second frame of his 5–2 win over Peter Ebdon in the first round.
