2017 China Open (snooker)
The 2017 China Open was a professional ranking snooker tournament, that took place between 27 March and 2 April 2017 at the Beijing University Students' Gymnasium in Beijing, China. It was the 18th and penultimate ranking event of the 2016–17 season. The tournament was broadcast in Europe on Eurosport and Eurosport Player. Judd Trump was the defending champion, but he lost in the quarter-finals to Hossein Vafaei. Mark Selby defeated Mark Williams 10–8 in the final to win his second China Open title and 11th career ranking title overall. Trump made the 130th official maximum break and the third of his career in the fifth frame of his 5–3 win over Tian Pengfei in the third round. China Open (snooker)
The China Open is a professional snooker tournament. It is one of a number of Snooker world rankings, ranking tournaments and began in 1997. The reigning champion is Neil Robertson. History The first international snooker tournament in China was the China International in September 1997, a non-ranking tournament for the top 16 players and local players. The following season the tournament became ranking and was held in March. Then the name of the event was changed to China Open and was held in December, so there were two events in 1999. After the 2002 tournament the event was abandoned. The event was revived for the Snooker season 2004/2005, 2004/05 season. Local wild-card players were invited to play against the qualifiers. The three Chinese players on the tour were invited to play as wild-cards, rather than qualify the usual way. Hossein Vafaei
Hossein Vafaei ( fa, حسین وفایی ایوری; born 15 October 1994) is an Iranian professional snooker player. He is the first professional player from Iran. He won his first professional title at the 2022 Snooker Shoot Out, beating Mark Williams. He dedicated this victory to his grandmother and mother because that day was mother's day in Iran. Ross Muir
Ross Muir (born 6 October 1995 in Edinburgh) is a Scottish former professional snooker player. He regularly wears a glove on his bridge hand. Muir turned professional in 2013 after graduating from event two of the Q School, defeating David Morris 4–0 in the final round. Eden Sharav
Eden Sharav ( he, עדן שרב; born 30 April 1992) is an Israeli- Scottish former professional snooker player. He was born in Israel to an Israeli father and a Scottish-born mother. Career Amateur In 2010 Sharav reached the final of the Scottish amateur championship at the age of 17, one of the youngest players to compete in the final, the final was a best of 13 match against Bobby Cruickshanks, Eden lead the match 6-5 but eventually lost 7-6. Alex Borg
Alex Borg (born 5 June 1969 in Mellieha) is a Maltese former professional snooker player. Borg currently resides in Mellieha, Malta. Career Borg first turned professional in 1991, and regularly appeared as a wild card in the Malta Grand Prix, where throughout the event's history he defeated players including Nigel Bond and John Higgins. His best performances were reaching the semi-final in 1997 and 1998. He also competed as a wild card in the Malta Cup. Luo Honghao (; born 31 January 2000) is a Chinese former professional snooker player. Career Amateur In July 2017, he reached the final of 2017 IBSF World Under-21 Snooker Championship where he lost the final 7–6 to Fan Zhengyi. Later in March 2018, he won the 2018 WSF Championship following a 6–0 demolition of Adam Stefanów in the final in Malta. James Warren White (born 2 May 1962) is an English professional snooker player who has won three seniors World titles. Fan Zhengyi (, born 27 January 2001) is a Chinese professional snooker player. He won the IBSF World Under-21 Snooker Championship in 2017, and turned professional in 2018.
