2017 Challenge Tour
The 2017 Challenge Tour is a series of professional golf tournaments collectively known as the Challenge Tour. The Challenge Tour is Europe's official developmental tour and is organised by the PGA European Tour. It was introduced in 1986 and was originally called the Satellite Tour, before being renamed with its present title in 1990. Schedule The following table lists official events during the 2017 season. Challenge Tour Rankings ''For full rankings, see 2017 Challenge Tour graduates.'' The rankings were titled as the Road to Oman and were based on prize money won during the season, calculated using a points-based system. The top 15 players on the tour earned status to play on the 2018 European Tour. Aaron Rai
Aaron Rai (born 3 March 1995) is an English professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour and the European Tour. He has won twice on the European Tour; the 2018 Honma Hong Kong Open and the 2020 Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open. He is one of the few professional golfers to wear two gloves. Professional career Rai turned professional in 2012. In 2014 and 2015 he played on the PGA EuroPro Tour. He won the 2015 Glenfarclas Open after a playoff, finished 5th in the Order of Merit and was promoted to the Challenge Tour for 2016. Rai was 18th in the 2016 Challenge Tour Order of Merit and just missed out on a European Tour place. 2017 European Tour
The 2017 European Tour was the ninth edition of the Race to Dubai and the 46th season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972. England's Tommy Fleetwood won the Race to Dubai. Spanish golfers collected the annual awards; Golfer of the Year was Sergio García, who won his first major, and Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year was Jon Rahm Changes for 2017 For the 2017 season, the European Tour created the "Rolex Series", a group of selected tournaments with a minimum purse of US$7 million. Richard McEvoy
Richard McEvoy (born 13 June 1979) is an English professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. In July 2018, he had his third Challenge Tour win, the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge and then won the Porsche European Open, on the European Tour, the following week. Amateur career McEvoy's amateur wins included the 2001 Lytham Trophy, and the 2001 Irish Amateur Open Championship. He was a member of the 2001 Great Britain & Ireland Walker Cup team, and turned professional at the end of the year. Professional career McEvoy won two third-tier PGA EuroPro Tour events in 2002, before gaining a European Tour card at the 2003 final qualifying school where he was also medalist. He has played several seasons on the tour, but never made enough money in a season to retain his card, until 2010. Oscar Stark (born 1 November 1988) is a Swedish professional golfer. Stark attended Oklahoma Christian University where he won the 2011 NAIA Men's Golf Championship. He played golf in North America for another two years, before qualifying for the Challenge Tour at the 2013 European Q-School, falling two strokes short of direct qualification to the European Tour. The Made in Denmark Challenge is a golf tournament on the Challenge Tour. It was first played in May 2015 at the Royal Golf Club in Copenhagen, Denmark. It moved to Aalborg Golf Club in 2016, Royal Oak Golf Club in 2017, Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort in 2018 and Silkeborg Ry Golfklub in 2019. Julien Guerrier (born 1 July 1985) is a French professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He won the 2006 Amateur Championship. Amateur career Guerrier was born in Évreux. He had a successful amateur career, which included winning The Amateur Championship in 2006 at Royal St George's Golf Club. He turned professional after competing in the 2007 Masters Tournament. Professional career Guerrier finished third on the Alps Tour Order of Merit in 2008 to graduate to the second tier Challenge Tour for 2009. The Saint-Omer Open is an annual men's professional golf tournament played at Saint-Omer Golf Club in Saint-Omer, France. The tournament was founded in 1997 and was part of the MasterCard Tour a year later, before taking its place on the Challenge Tour for the 2000 season. Martin Wiegele
Martin Wiegele (born 11 July 1978) is an Austrian professional golfer. Wiegele was born in Graz. He turned professional in 2003 when he joined the second tier Challenge Tour. He enjoyed some success during his first season finishing fourth on the end of season rankings to graduate to the top level European Tour for 2004. He almost won his first European Tour event he ever played, losing a playoff against Marcus Fraser in the 2003 BMW Russian Open. He could not keep his European Tour card and had to go back to the Challenge Tour. He struggled for form during the next few seasons due to massive swing changes, before picking up his first big victory at the 2007 Lexus Open. He went on to be medalist at the European Tour Qualifying School at the end of the season to regain his place at the top level. Swiss Challenge
The Swiss Challenge is a golf tournament on the Challenge Tour, held in Switzerland, except in 2021, when it was held in France. History It was first played as the Credit Suisse Private Banking Open in 2000 and 2001 at the Golf Club Patriziale Ascona in Ascona. It replaced the Interlaken Open which ended after financial issues. During the course of the 2002 edition, the heavy rain led to the overflow of the Lake Maggiore and to the cancellation of the event. Following a four-year hiatus, the tournament returned in 2006 and was held at the Wylihof Golf Club in Luterbach through 2009. Since 2010 the event has been played at Golf Sempachersee in Hildisrieden. In 2021, the event was uniquely held in France.
