2017 Brisbane International
The 2017 Brisbane International was a tournament of the 2017 ATP World Tour and 2017 WTA Tour. It was played on outdoor hard courts in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was the ninth edition of the tournament and took place at the Queensland Tennis Centre in Tennyson. It was held from 1 to 8 January 2017 as part of the Australian Open Series in preparation for the first Grand Slam of the year. It was announced on 24 August 2016 that 14-times Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal would play at the event for the first time. Tennyson is a southern riverside suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Tennyson had a population of 1,019 people. Kei Nishikori
is an inactive Japanese professional tennis player. He is the second male Japanese player to have been ranked in the top 5 in singles (after Jiro Sato), and the only one to do so in the Open Era. Nishikori first reached his career-high singles ranking of world No. 4 in March 2015. Nishikori has won 12 singles titles and was runner-up at the 2014 US Open, making him the first male player representing an Asian country to reach a Grand Slam singles final. Nicolas Pierre Armand Mahut (; born 21 January 1982) is a French professional tennis player who is a former world No. 1 in doubles. Jared Donaldson (born October 9, 1996) is a former American professional tennis player from Glocester, Rhode Island. Donaldson was the only American to qualify for the inaugural Next Generation ATP Finals at the end of 2017 as the fifth seed.
