2016–17 The Citadel Bulldogs Basketball Team
The 2016–17 The Citadel Bulldogs basketball team represented The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bulldogs were led by second-year head coach Duggar Baucom and played their home games at McAlister Field House in Charleston, South Carolina. They played as a member of the Southern Conference, as they have since 1936–37. They finished the season 12–21, 4–14 in SoCon play to finish in a tie for eighth place. They defeated 2016–17 Western Carolina Catamounts men's basketball team, Western Carolina in the first round of the 2017 Southern Conference men's basketball tournament, SoCon tournament to advance to the quarterfinals where they lost to 2016–17 UNC Greensboro Spartans men's basketball team, UNC Greensboro. Duggar Baucom
Robert Franklin "Duggar" Baucom (born September 21, 1960) is an American college basketball coach, most recently the head men's basketball coach at The Citadel Bulldogs basketball, The Citadel. Baucom was hired as the Citadel's head coach following the 2014–15 season. He was previously the head coach at Virginia Military Institute. He's also served a coach at Tusculum College, Tusculum, Davidson College, Davidson, Western Carolina University, Western Carolina and Northwestern State University, Northwestern State. At the conclusion of the 2017–18 season, Baucom's career record is 184–223 in Division I and 37–19 in Division II. DME Academy is a private athletic sports training academy based in Daytona Beach, Florida for post-graduate basketball players. During its first year in existence, DME Academy's National Team, The DME Lakers, reached the National Prep Championships at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut.
