The 2016–17 Santosh Trophy was the 71st edition of the Santosh Trophy, the main state competition for football in India. Services are the reigning champions. West Bengal Football Team
The West Bengal football team (Bengali: পশ্চিমবঙ্গ ফুটবল দল) is an Indian football team representing West Bengal in Indian state football competitions including the Santosh Trophy. They became the second Indian team to participate in the continental top tier tournament – Asian Champion Club Tournament – by playing in the 1970 edition following Mysore in 1969. History Incorporated in 1893 during the British rule in India, West Bengal have appeared in the Santosh Trophy finals 45 times, having won 32 titles, the most by any team. Managed by legendary Balaidas Chatterjee, the team won six Santosh Trophy titles between 1949 and 1959. In 1962, former Indian captain Samar Banerjee guided Bengal winning the trophy. Jobby Justin (born 10 November 1993) is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a forward for I-League club Gokulam Kerala. Career Justin grew up playing football on the beaches of Vettucaud but did not take the game seriously until his eighth standard when he joined St Joseph's HSS. F Lalrinpuia (born 3 October 1989) is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Mizoram Police in the Mizoram Premier League. Career Born in Mizoram, Lalrinpuia began his career with Mizoram Police in the Mizoram Premier League. He then joined Chanmari, where he played for the side in the I-League 2nd Division. He also represented Mizoram in the Santosh Trophy and helped the state win their first championship in the tournament. Manvir Singh (born 6 November 1995) is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Indian Super League club Mohun Bagan SG and the India national team. Early life Manvir Singh was born in Duhre (Duhra) village of Sangrur district of Punjab to his father Kuldip Singh. He has one sibling, a brother named Harkamal Singh. Cajetan Fernandes (born 28 February 1989) is an Indian footballer who plays for Sporting Clube de Goa as a midfielder in I-League.
