2016–17 Ranji Trophy
The 2016–17 Ranji Trophy was the 83rd season of the Ranji Trophy, the premier first-class cricket tournament in India. Unlike previous seasons, the 2016–17 tournament was played at neutral venues. Captains and coaches were supportive of the change. Chhattisgarh cricket team made their debut in the competition, becoming the 28th team to compete in this edition of the Ranji Trophy. Mumbai were the defending champions. Gujarat beat Mumbai in the final by 5 wickets to win their first title. In September 2016, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the dates, groups and fixtures for the competition. The pink ball was used in the tournament, to help the BCCI make a decision on playing a day/night Test match. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the national governing body for cricket in India. Its headquarters are situated at Cricket centre, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The BCCI is the richest governing body of cricket in the world and is part of the ''Big Three'' of international cricket, along with Cricket Australia and the England and Wales Cricket Board. The 2016–17 Ranji Trophy was the 83rd season of the Ranji Trophy, the first-class cricket tournament in India. It was contested by 28 teams divided into three groups. S Badrinath
Subramaniam Badrinath ( ta, சுப்பிரமணியம் பத்ரிநாத்; born 30 August 1980) is a former Indian cricketer. He is a right-handed middle order batsman. Badrinath has represented India in One Day International and test matches. In first class cricket, he captains Vidarbha and was captain of Tamil Nadu earlier. In the Indian Premier League, he represented Chennai Super Kings till 2013 and Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2015. He has also represented the Indian Board President's XI on several occasions. He was named in the 30 man provisional squad for the 2007 Cricket World Cup but did not make it to the final squad. Badrinath was a prolific scorer for Tamil Nadu in first class cricket. Holkar Stadium
The Holkar (Pronunciation: o(ː)ɭkəɾ dynasty was a Maratha clan of Dhangar origin in India. The Holkars were generals under Peshwa Baji Rao I, and later became Maharajas of Indore in Central India as an independent member of the Maratha Empire until 1818. Later, their kingdom became a princely state under the protectorate of British India. The dynasty was founded with Malhar Rao, who joined the service of the Peshwas of the Maratha Empire in 1721, and quickly rose to the rank of Subedar. Haryana Cricket Team
The Haryana cricket team is a domestic cricket team run by the Haryana Cricket Association, representing the state of Haryana, India. The team participates in the Ranji Trophy, the top tier domestic first-class cricket tournament in India, as well as the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the top tier domestic List A tournament in India, and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a domestic T20 tournament in India. Hyderabad Cricket Team
The Hyderabad cricket team is a domestic cricket team based in the city of Hyderabad, Telangana, run by the Hyderabad Cricket Association. It is part of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group and has seen scattered success over its many years in the Ranji Trophy circuit. Over its long history in the Ranji Trophy it has won twice and come runner up three times and has made one appearance in the Irani Trophy. Odisha Cricket Team
The Odisha cricket team (known as Orissa until 2011) is a domestic cricket team based in the Indian state of Odisha. It is in the elite group of the Ranji Trophy. Its main home ground is Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Karnataka cricket team represents the Indian state of Karnataka in domestic cricket competitions. It has traditionally been one of the strongest teams in the domestic circuit and has produced many of Indian cricket team's iconic players. The Jharkhand Cricket Team is a first-class cricket team based in the Indian state of Jharkhand. When the old state of Bihar was split into Jharkhand state and Bihar state, the Jharkhand team took the place of the Bihar cricket team, as much of the former's state's cricketing infrastructure was in Jharkhand.
