2016–17 Mid-American Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2016–17 Mid-American Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2016, followed by the start of the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Conference play began in January 2017 and concluded in March 2017. Akron won the regular season title with a conference record of 14–4 over a cluster of four teams tied at 11–7. Sixth-seeded Kent State upset Akron in the MAC tournament final and represented the MAC in the NCAA tournament where they lost to UCLA in the first round. 2016–17 Eastern Michigan Eagles Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Eastern Michigan Eagles men's basketball team represented Eastern Michigan University during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Eagles, led by sixth-year head coach Rob Murphy, played their home games at the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan as members of the West Division of the Mid-American Conference. Despited being voted to finish 1st in the MAC West, they finished the regular season 16–17, 7–11 in MAC play to finish in a tie for eighth place. Keith Dambrot
Keith Brett Dambrot (born October 26, 1958) is an American college basketball coach and the current men's basketball head coach of Duquesne University. During his high school head coaching career, he coached future NBA star LeBron James for two years. During 13 seasons of head coaching at the University of Akron, he had a regular game season 305–139 record and was the winningest coach in the program's history. He is a three-time Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year. Thomas Wilder (born May 14, 1995) is an American basketball player for Nürnberg Falcons BC of the German ProA league. He played college basketball the Western Michigan.
