2016–17 Macedonian First Football League
The 2016–17 Macedonian First League was the 25th season of the Macedonian First Football League, the highest football league of Macedonia. The fixtures were announced on 25 July 2016. It began on 7 August 2016 and ended on 31 May 2017 with a winter break which began on 4 December 2016 and ended on 19 February 2017. From that season the format was changed which will each team be played the other sides four times on home-away basis, for a total of 36 matches each instead of play-off and play-out after 27th round. The league will be contested by 10 teams. Vardar are the defending champions, having won their ninth title in 2015–16. FK Vardar
FK Vardar Skopje ( mk, ФК Вардар Скопје), or simply Vardar, is a football club based in the capital city of Skopje, North Macedonia. The club was founded in 1947 and currently competes in the Macedonian Second Football League. They are the most successful club in Macedonian football, having won eleven Macedonian First League titles, five Macedonian Cups, two Macedonian Super Cups, and one Yugoslav Cup. In 2017, they became the first Macedonian club to qualify for European competitions. FK Pobeda (2010)
FK Pobeda AD Prilep ( mk, ФК Победа АД Прилеп) is a football club based in the city of Prilep, North Macedonia. They are currently competing in the Macedonian First League. History The club was founded in 2010 as Viktorija (eventually renaming to Pobeda Junior) after the FK Pobeda was banned by FIFA for eight years. Legally, the two clubs' track records and honors are kept separate by the Football Federation of Macedonia. In 2015, Pobeda Junior was renamed to match the name of the old club that was suspended, Pobeda. The club was promoted to the Macedonian First League for the first time after finishing 1st in the 2015–16 Macedonian Second League. The club managed to stay in the First League for 3 seasons until it was relegated in the 2018-19 Macedonian First League, finishing in 10th. KF Shkupi ( mk, ФК Шкупи, sq, Klubi Futbollistik Shkupi) is a professional football club based in Čair, Skopje, North Macedonia. The club plays in the Macedonian First Football League, which is the top tier of football in the country. History After financial issues with main sponsor Jugomagnat, Sloga went through an unstable period. In 2012, Sloga was merged with FC Albarsa to form FK Shkupi. FK Sileks ( mk, ФК Силекс) is a football club based in Kratovo, North Macedonia who play in the Macedonian First League. History The club was founded in 1965. Sileks biggest accomplishment in 90s came in the Yugoslav Cup where they reached the quarter-final. It was a remarkable achievement considering they defeated both Sarajevo teams, FK Željezničar and FK Sarajevo in back to back rounds. Since the formation of the First Macedonian Football League, they played at top level from the start until their relegation in 2013. The 2017–18 Macedonian Second Football League was the 26th season of the Macedonian Second Football League, the second division in the Macedonian football league system. The fixtures were announced on 7 August 2017. The season began on 27 August 2017 and concluded on 19 May 2018. It's the first season since 1999–2000 with the new format, which as the league is divided into two groups, East and West, with 10 teams participating in each group. FK Skopje ( mk, ФК Скопје) is a football club from Skopje, the capital of the North Macedonia. They are currently competing in the Macedonian First League. History The club was created in 1960, by uniting ''FK Metalec'' and ''FK Industrijalec''. They were originally formed as ''FK MIK'' (Metalska Industrija Kale) and later changed their name to ''FK Skopje'' during the 1973–74 season. Fudbalska Akademija Pandev ( mk, Фудбалска Академија Пандев), commonly known as Akademija Pandev ( mk, Академија Пандев), is a football club based in Strumica, North Macedonia which competes in the Macedonian First League. History The academy was founded in 2010 by the Macedonian football player Goran Pandev, after whom the Academy was named. As of 2014, Akademija Pandev has a senior team competing in the Macedonian senior leagues. In 2017, the senior team was promoted to the Macedonian First League for the first time in its history. In February 2018, the team moved to play their home games at Stadion Kukuš due to a disagreement over rent with FK Belasica. FK Mladost Carev Dvor ( mk, ФК Младост Царев Двор) is a football club based in the village of Carev Dvor near Resen, North Macedonia. They was recently played in the Macedonian First League. History The club was founded in 1930. After promotion to the Macedonian Second League in 2014, in 2015 the club won promotion to the Macedonian First League for the first time in his history, but in the following season, Mladost was relegated after taking the last place in the league.
