The 2016–17 Luge World Cup was a multi race tournament over a season for luge, organised by the FIL.The season started on 26 November 2016 in Winterberg, Germany and ended on 25 February 2017 in Altenberg, Germany. Roman Repilov
Roman Alexandrovich Repilov (russian: Роман Александрович Репилов; born 5 March 1996) is a Russian luger. Competitive career Representing Russia at the 2015–16 Luge World Cup, Repilov placed second in the sprint event in Calgary with a time of 30.279. On 2 December 2016, he came in fifth in the Lake Placid event of the Men's Singles 2016-17 Luge World Cup, but set a new Lake Placid track start record of 6.359 seconds. Then later in the same season he triumphed in the men's singles event at Park City, Utah, came in second twice, in Winterberg, Germany and Sigulda, Latvia and won two men's singles sprint events in Park City and Sigulda. During the 2017–18 Luge World Cup season Repilov triumphed at Lake Placid and in doing so shattered the track record which had just been set first by his teammate Semen Pavlichenko the previous day and then again by the American slider Tucker West in the previous heat of the finals, with a time of 50.875 seconds. ... Johannes Ludwig
Johannes Ludwig (born 14 February 1986) is an Olympic gold medal-winning German luger who has competed since 1996. He won a bronze medal in the Team relay event at the FIL European Luge Championships 2010 in Sigulda. At the 2018 Winter Olympics, held in Pyeongchang, South Korea, Ludwig won the bronze medal in the men's singles luge and the gold in the team relay luge, along with his teammates Natalie Geisenberger, Tobias Wendl, and Tobias Arlt. Then at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, he won the gold medal in the Men's singles race. Career Ludwig's finished 11th in the men's singles event at the 2007 FIL World Luge Championships in Igls, Austria. His best Luge World Cup overall finish was 11th twice ( 2006-7, 2007-8). Dajana Eitberger
Dajana Eitberger (born 7 January 1991) is a German luger. She currently represents Germany in the women's singles event in the Luge World Cup. Career During the 2014–15 Luge World Cup season she was victorious in one event which was the final race of the season in Sochi. During that season she came in second twice and third four time and finished second in the overall standing behind her teammate, Natalie Geisenberger. Tatjana Hüfner (born 30 April 1983) is a German retired luger who has competed since 2003. Career She won the bronze medal in the women's singles at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and the gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Samuel "Sam" Edney (born June 29, 1984) is a retired Canadian luger who has competed since 2000. Competing in four Winter Olympics. Career Early start and Olympic debut Edney got into the sport at the age of 14 and began competing at the 2000 Canadian Junior Championship in Calgary. In 2004, Edney would return to Calgary to win second place in doubles at the Junior World Cup Champs. In 2006, he made his Olympic debut in Turin, finishing nineteenth overall. Dominik Fischnaller (born 20 February 1993) is an Italian luger who has competed since 2002. He has won silver and two bronze medals at Junior World Championships. Fischnaller won the Junior Luge World Cup for the 2010–11 season. His best Luge World Cup overall finish was third 2013–14 Luge World Cup. Tucker West
Tucker West (born June 15, 1995) is an American luger who, at the age of 18, was the youngest male ever to qualify to represent the United States in the men's luge at the Olympics. West placed 22nd in the men's single competition at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Career West attended National Sports Academy High in Lake Placid, New York. Before going away to school he was a resident of Ridgefield, Connecticut. When West was a boy, his father designed and built a wood luge track in the backyard of their Ridgefield home.
