The 2016–17 season was Ipswich Town's 15th consecutive season in the second tier of English football and 139th year in existence. Ipswich Town F
Ipswich () is a port town and borough in Suffolk, England, of which it is the county town. The town is located in East Anglia about away from the mouth of the River Orwell and the North Sea. Ipswich is both on the Great Eastern Main Line railway and the A12 road; it is north-east of London, east-southeast of Cambridge and south of Norwich. Ipswich is surrounded by two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB): Suffolk Coast and Heaths and Dedham Vale. Ipswich's modern name is derived from the medieval name ''Gippeswic'', probably taken either from an Anglo-Saxon personal name or from an earlier name given to the Orwell Estuary (although possibly unrelated to the name of the River Gipping). Paul Digby
Paul Andrew Digby (born 2 February 1995) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for club Cambridge United. Club career Barnsley Digby started his career in the youth team at Barnsley and won the Most Promising Academy player in 2008, whilst playing the club's under-13 side. Paul won the award again in 2011 after his fine showings for the under 16's. He signed a two-year scholarship with the club in the summer of 2011. Jordan Spence
Jordan James Spence (born 24 May 1990) is an English professional footballer who most recently played for ADO Den Haag in the Eredivisie. Predominantly as a right-back, Spence can also operate as a centre-back. He has represented and captained England at various youth levels. Brett Pitman
Brett Douglas Pitman (born 31 January 1988) is a footballer who plays as a forward for AFC Portchester. He has spent most of his career at AFC Bournemouth in two separate spells, totalling 102 goals in 301 games. After starting his career on his native island, he moved to Bournemouth as a 16-year-old and went on to become a regular in their first team, helping them avoid relegation from The Football League in 2009 and earn promotion a year later. David McGoldrick
David James McGoldrick (born 29 November 1987) is a professional footballer who plays as a striker for club Derby County. He won 14 caps for the Republic of Ireland national team between 2014 and 2020, scoring one international goal. A trainee at Notts County, he made his senior debut in 2004, before being signed by Southampton later in the year. Leon Julian Brendan Best (born 19 September 1986) is a retired professional footballer who played as a striker. He has played for the Republic of Ireland national football team. Best represented Ireland at under-21 level and won his first full international cap against Nigeria on 29 May 2009. Best had a youth career at Notts County. Cole Skuse (born 29 March 1986) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Colchester United. He started his footballing career at Bristol City, where he graduated from the club's academy and went on to make over 300 appearances in all competitions in a nine-year spell with the club. Christophe Berra
Christophe Didier Berra (born 31 January 1985) is a Scottish professional football former player and coach, who is currently the first team coach for Livingston. Berra began his professional career with Heart of Midlothian, playing 146 times for them before he moved to England in 2009 in a £2.5 million transfer to Wolverhampton Wanderers. He was part of their promotion to the Premier League months later and played in the top flight with the team for three seasons before relegation. Thomas Jefferson Smith (born 31 March 1990) is a professional footballer who plays as a defender for club Colchester United. Born in England, he represents the New Zealand national team.
