2016–17 Alabama Crimson Tide Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball team (variously "Alabama", "UA", "Bama" or " The Tide") represented the University of Alabama in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Crimson Tide played its home games at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, as a member of the Southeastern Conference. Avery Johnson was in his second year as head coach of the Tide. They finished the season 19–15, 10–8 in SEC play to finish in a tie for fifth place in SEC play. They defeated Mississippi State and South Carolina to advance to the semifinals of the SEC tournament where they lost to Kentucky. They received an invitation to the National Invitation Tournament where they lost in the First Round to Richmond. Avery Johnson
Avery DeWitt Johnson (born March 25, 1965) is an American basketball television commentator and former player and coach who most recently served as head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball team. He is currently an NBA and college basketball analyst for CBS Sports. Johnson spent 16 years in the National Basketball Association as a player, and subsequently served as the head coach of two NBA teams: the Dallas Mavericks and New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets. He led the Mavericks to their first NBA Finals appearance and to three consecutive 50+ win seasons. 2016 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2016 Southeastern Conference men's basketball tournament was a postseason men's basketball tournament for the Southeastern Conference held at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee March 9–13, 2016. This year's tournament involved only 13 of the league's 14 teams. On January 13, 2016, Missouri, then being investigated by the NCAA for rules violations that occurred under the tenure of former head coach Frank Haith, announced that it would not participate in any postseason play this season. As a result, the #11 seed in the tournament was awarded a first-round bye, leaving the #12 seed–#13 seed game as the only game to be played on March 9. Corban Collins (born July 21, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for KB Trepça of the Kosovo Basketball Superleague. He played college basketball at LSU, Morehead State and Alabama. College career LSU Collins began his collegiate career playing for the LSU Tigers and averaged 2.6 points and 9.1 minutes played in 27 games as a freshman. He decided to leave the program following the end of the season and chose to transfer to Morehead State over Murray State and Central Florida. Retin Obasohan (born 6 July 1993) is a Belgian professional basketball player for ASVEL of the French LNB Pro A and the EuroLeague. Early career In the 2010–11 season, Obasohan played for amateur team Kangoeroes Boom in the Belgian Second Division. Arthur Edwards (born September 28, 1992) is an American professional basketball player for BBC Monthey of the Swiss Basketball League. He played college basketball for Northwest Florida, New Mexico and Alabama.
