Montenegro Men's National Water Polo Team
The Montenegro men's national water polo team represents Montenegro in international men's water polo competitions, and is controlled by the Water Polo and Swimming Federation of Montenegro. Prior history Between 1918 and 1991, Montenegro was part of Yugoslavia, and its players participated in the Yugoslavia national water polo team. Between 1992 and 2006, it was part of FR Yugoslavia, later Serbia and Montenegro, so Montenegrin players played for those teams; Serbia is the sole successor to these countries so those results are recorded at Serbia national water polo team. Dragiša Pešić
Dragiša Pešić (Serbian Cyrillic: Драгиша Пешић; 8 August 1954 – 8 September 2016) was a Yugoslav politician. He was the second last Prime Minister of Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Biography Pešić was born in Danilovgrad on 8 August 1954. He studied economics at the University of Sarajevo's Faculty of Economics, where he graduated in 1978. He was President of the executive committee of Podgorica Municipality, a member of the Chamber of Citizens in the Yugoslav Federal Assembly. In 1998, he became Finance Minister of Yugoslavia, in the governments of Prime Ministers Momir Bulatović and Zoran Žižić. Dragiša Pešić became Prime Minister of Yugoslavia on 24 July 2001, after Žižić resigned in protest of the extradition of Slobodan Milošević to the ICTY. Sreten Asanović
Sreten Asanović (22 February 1931 – 3 June 2016) was a Montenegrin author who established the short-story genre in that country. Asanović was born in Donji Kokoti, near Podgorica. He completed teacher-training school, focusing on preschool education. Asanović published his first story in the magazine ''Omladinski pokret'', in which he had already contributed movie reviews and written a column ("From the Lives of Famous People"). From 1957 to 1960, he was editor-in-chief of the Titograd (Podgorica) magazine ''Susreti''; editor for the Sarajevo magazine Oslobodjenje from 1960 to 1962; first editor-in-chief of the journal '' Odjek'' from 1963 to 1965; secretary of the Commission for Culture and Art in Belgrade from 1965 to 1972, and editor-in-chief of the Titograd magazine ''Stvaranje'' from 1973 to 1989. Montenegrin Parliamentary Election, 2016
Parliamentary elections were held in Montenegro on 16 October 2016. The ruling Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) remained the largest party, winning 36 of the 81 seats, and subsequently formed a coalition government with the new Social Democrats and national minority parties. The elections were held in the midst of an alleged coup d'état attempt. Background Protests against incumbent Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic occurred in the preceding year over issues ranging from NATO membership to electoral fraud. A split in the ruling coalition followed in January 2016, leaving the government functioning as a de facto minority government. Montenegro At The 2016 Summer Olympics
Montenegro competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. This was the nation's third consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics since it gained independence from Serbia in 2006. Montenegrin Olympic Committee sent a team of 35 athletes, 18 women and 17 men, to compete in seven different sports at the Olympics, matching the nation's roster size with London 2012. Women's handball and men's water polo were the only team-based sports in which Montenegro had representatives at the Games. Among the sports represented by the athletes, Montenegro marked its Olympic debut in tennis. The Montenegrin team featured a number of returning Olympians; seven of them have attended in every edition of the Games since Montenegro's official debut eight years earlier, including six water polo players, led by captain Predrag Jokić, and half-middleweight judoka Srđan Mrvaljević (men's 81 kg). Duško Marković
Duško Marković (Serbian Cyrillic: Душко Марковић; born 6 July 1959) is a Montenegrin politician who served as the Prime Minister from 2016 to 2020. Early and personal life Marković was born on 6 July 1959 in Mojkovac, Yugoslavia. He finished elementary and middle school in Mojkovac, and graduated in law at the University of Kragujevac. After he graduated from Kragujevac, he began working in legal consulting for the ''Brskovo'' mine in Mojkovac. He is married and has three children. Political career In 1986, Marković was appointed secretary of the municipal assembly of Mojkovac, and mayor in 1989. He left the post in 1991 to be appointed Secretary-General of the Montenegrin government led by Milo Đukanović within Yugoslavia. In 1997, he was elected to the Montenegrin Assembly, and the following year he became assistant Minister of the Interior, in charge of the State Security Service.
