2016 Women's Hockey Junior World Cup
The 2016 Women's Hockey Junior World Cup was the 8th edition of the Women's Hockey Junior World Cup. It was held from 24 November to 4 December 2016 in Santiago, Chile. Argentina won the tournament after defeating defending champions the Netherlands 4–2 in the final. This was the first time Argentina had won the Junior World Cup since the 1993 tournament in Terrassa, Spain. Australia won the third place match by defeating Spain 3–1 on a penalty shootout after a 1–1 draw. This was Australia's first Junior World Cup medal in 15 years. Qualification Each continental federation received a number of quotas depending on the FIH World Rankings for teams qualified through their junior continental championships. 2016 Junior Oceania Cup
The 2016 Junior Oceania Cup was a field hockey tournament held in Gold Coast, Australia. The tournament served as a qualifier for the 2016 Men's and Women's Junior Hockey World Cups. Both the Australian men's and women's teams finished the tournament undefeated, qualifying directly to the Junior World Cups. As Oceania is allocated two qualification places in the tournaments, both New Zealand teams also qualified for the Junior World Cups. Erin Matson (athlete)
Erin Matson (born March 17, 2000) is an American former field hockey player and the current head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels field hockey team. A standout player on that team from 2018 to 2022, she led the Tar Heels to win four NCAA Championships. Matson is one of only two players to be selected in the U.S. Women's National Team at age 16; the first was Katie Bam, selected in 2005. The 2016 Women's Junior Pan-Am Championship was the 8th edition of the Women's Pan American Junior Championship. It was held from 31 March to 9 April 2016 in Tacarigua, Trinidad and Tobago.
