2016 Wake Forest Demon Deacons Football Team
The 2016 Wake Forest Demon Deacons football team represented Wake Forest University during the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was coached by Dave Clawson, who was in his third season at the school, and played its home games at BB&T Field. Wake Forest competed in the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference, as they have since the league's inception in 1953. They finished the season 7–6, 3–5 in ACC play to finish in a tie for fourth place in the Atlantic Division. They were invited to the Military Bowl where they defeated Temple. When Wake Forest lost to Louisville on November 12, Dave Clawson alleged that Louisville had received impermissible information that benefited the Cardinals on the football field. Greg Dortch (born May 29, 1998) is an American football wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Wake Forest. Early years Dortch attended Highland Springs High School in Highland Springs, Virginia. He committed to Wake Forest University to play college football. College career Dortch redshirted his first year at Wake Forest in 2016. As a redshirt freshman in 2017, he played in eight games and had 53 receptions for 722 yards and nine touchdowns. As a redshirt sophomore in 2018, he had 89 receptions for 1,078 yards and eight touchdowns. He was named an All-American as a return specialist after recording two punt return touchdowns. The 2016 Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens football team represented the University of Delaware as a member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) during the 2016 NCAA Division I FCS football season.
