2016 Super Twenty20 Provincial Tournament
The 2016 Super T20 Provincial Tournament is the sixth edition of the Inter-Provincial Twenty20. The tournament featured a different format from previous seasons, featuring five teams, and was held between 26 January and 5 February 2016. Colombo Commandos won the tournament, defeat Galle Guardians in the final by 8 wickets. Format The Tournament will comprise 10 Round-robin matches plus the two semi-finals and the final. All first Round-robin matches and semi finals were held as day games and the final as a day/night game. Teams Venue All the matches will be played at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is the governing body for cricket in Sri Lanka. It was first registered with the Sri Lankan Ministry of Sports (Sri Lanka), Ministry of Sports as the Board of Cricket for Sri Lanka (BCCSL) on 30 June 1975 as a national sports body. The board was renamed in 2003. Mahela Lakmal Udawatte known as Mahela Udawatte ( si, මහේල උඩවත්ත) (born 19 July 1986) is a professional Sri Lankan International cricketer. He played as opening batsman in debut series in 2008, which shifted to become a middle order batsman for his comeback in 2017. Kasun Disi Kithuruwan Vithanage ( si, කිතුරුවන් විතානගේ) (born February 1991), or commonly Kithuruwan Vithanage, is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who plays for all forms of the game in international level. Ranmore Etholson John Martinesz (born 24 June 1967 in Colombo) is a Sri Lankan umpire and a former first-class cricketer. Martinesz played first-class cricket for the Sebastianites Cricket and Athletic Club. His career was short, with him making just four first-class appearances. Umpiring career Martinesz has proved himself an umpire worthy of being recognized at international level and be included in the ICC's International Panel of Umpires in the near future.
