2016 Spikers' Turf
The Spikers' Turf 2nd Season was the second season of the men's volleyball league Spikers' Turf, the counterpart of the women's Shakey's V-League. In 2014, the Shakey's V-League introduced a men's division during its 21st conference. The following year, Sports Vision, the organizers of the Shakey's V-League decided to spin-off the men's vision as a separate tournament, giving birth to the Spikers' Turf. Open conference The Spikers’ Turf Collegiate Conference was the 5th conference of the Spikers' Turf, conference commenced on May 28, 2016 at the Filoil Flying V Centre, San Juan. Six (6) volleyball clubs will compete in this year's Open Conference. Spikers' Turf
The Spikers' Turf is a men's semi-professional volleyball league in the Philippines associated with the Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. (Sports Vision). History The league had its beginnings in 2014, when the Shakey's V-League introduced a men's division during its Shakey's V-League 11th Season Reinforced Open Conference, 21st conference. The following year, Sports Vision decided to spin-off the men's division as a separate league, giving birth to the Spikers' Turf. In late-2016, Sports Vision announced that the league be merged back in the 2017 season with the Shakey's V-League (which was renamed as the Premier Volleyball League; PVL). The men's division in the PVL ended with the 2018 Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference, 2018 PVL Collegiate Conference as its final tournament. 2016 SVL Season
The 2016 Shakey's V-League season was the thirteenth and last season for the Shakey's V-League. The succeeding tournaments (c. 2017–present) were named as the Philippine V-League and then ultimately the Premier Volleyball League. There were three indoor conferences for this season. The Philippine Institute of Sports Multi-Purpose Arena or PhilSports Arena is an indoor arena, indoor sporting arena located inside the PhilSports Complex in Pasig, Philippines. It was formerly known as the University of Life Theater and Recreational Arena or the ULTRA. The arena is part of the PhilSports Complex which is maintained by the Philippine Sports Commission. It was the site of the majority of the games of the Philippine Basketball Association from 1985 to 1992 and from 1999 to 2002. The league still occasionally comes back to play at the arena. The Ynares Sports Arena is an indoor arena located in Pasig, Philippines. The stadium has hosted the basketball games of the Philippine Basketball Association, Philippine Basketball League, and Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, as well as college basketball tournaments. Bryan Berroya Bagunas (born October 10, 1997) is a Filipino volleyball player who plays for Taiwanese club Win Streak and the Philippine national team. Early life Bryan Bagunas was born on October 10, 1997 in Batangas City. Prior to his college education, he was more into basketball than volleyball. Bagunas started playing volleyball in his second year of high school education and participated in both basketball and volleyball events in his school's intramurals. Esmilzo Joner "Ish" Polvorosa (born March 22, 1997) is a Filipino volleyball player who plays for the Philippine national team. Personal life Polvorosa was born and raised in Imus, Cavite. He graduated as second honorable mention at Anabu II Elementary School and studied middle school at Unida Christian Colleges. He took up AB European Studies at Ateneo de Manila University where he played in the Ateneo Blue Eagles volleyball team. He joined the Cignal HD Spikers in 2017. Madzlan Gampong is a Filipino volleyball player who plays for Sarawak Hornbill of the Malaysia Volleyball League.
