The Ohio general elections, 2016 were held on November 8, 2016 throughout Ohio. The close of registration for electors in the primary election was December 16, 2015, and the primary election took place on March 15, 2016. Federal President Senate Incumbent Republican Senator Rob Portman is running for re-election to a second term in office. House of Representatives All of Ohio's 16 seats in the United States House of Representatives are up for election in 2016. State General Assembly Summary Senate Senate The 16 even-numbered districts out of 33 seats in the Ohio Senate were up for election in 2016. Twelve of these seats were held by Republicans, three were held by Democrats, and one seat was vacant. Prior to the election, Republicans held 23 seats and Democrats held 10 seats; after the election, Republicans gained an additional seat, giving them a 24 to 9 majority. 2018 Ohio Elections
The Ohio general elections, 2018, were held on November 6, 2018, throughout Ohio. Federal Senate Democratic U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown—the only elected Democratic statewide officeholder in Ohio as of July 2017—won re-election to a third term, defeating Republican U.S. Representative Jim Renacci in the general election. Louis Terhar
Louis Terhar (born September 28, 1949) is an American businessman and former politician serving as a Republican member of the Ohio Senate, representing the 8th district. The district includes portions of Hamilton County. Formerly, he served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2011 to 2016. Ohio's 20th Senatorial District
Ohio's 20th senatorial district is based in east-central Ohio. It used to stretch into southeastern Ohio. It is made up of the counties of Fairfield, Hocking, Morgan, Muskingum and Guernsey as well as portions of Pickaway and Athens counties. John Eklund (Ohio Politician)
John J. Eklund is a former Republican Party (United States), Republican member of the Ohio Senate for the 18th district. He was appointed in November 2011 to replace Tim Grendell, who was appointed as a judge in Geauga County, Ohio, Geauga County. The selection committee considered thirteen candidates for the appointment. He is the Chairman of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee. Eklund then went on to win the 2012 election for a full-term, winning with 54.7% of the vote. His district includes all of Portage County, Ohio, Portage County along with half of Lake County, Ohio, Lake County and most of Geauga County. Jim Hughes (politician)
Jim Hughes (born September 7, 1964) is a former state representative for the 24th District of the Ohio House of Representatives. He is a Republican. The district consists of portions of Columbus, as well as Grove City, Hilliard, Upper Arlington, and Worthington in Franklin County. Hughes formerly was a member of the Ohio Senate from 2009 to 2016. He served in a similar seat in the House as well from 2000 to 2008. Joe Uecker
Joe Uecker (born November 27, 1954) is a former Republican member of the Ohio Senate, representing the 14th District from 2013 to 2019. He formerly served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2005 to 2012. Career Uecker worked in law enforcement for the City of Deer Park, Clermont County Sheriff's Office, and the City of Montgomery before parlaying his management degree into the private sector in 1988. He also co-owned a private business for three years. Uecker worked as the Administrator of the Clermont County Engineer's Office from 1993 until 2004 and was also a Miami Township Trustee from 1990 until 2004. Ohio's 14th Senatorial District
Ohio's 14th senatorial district has historically stretched across the Ohio River east of Cincinnati in southern Ohio.
