2016 Japanese Motorcycle Grand Prix
The 2016 Japanese motorcycle Grand Prix was the fifteenth round of the 2016 MotoGP season. It was held at the Twin Ring Motegi in Motegi on 16 October 2016. MotoGP race report In the MotoGP class, both factory Yamaha riders crashed out of the race, thus marking their first double retirement since the 2011 British Grand Prix. Classification MotoGP With Andrea Iannone still recovering from the injuries sustained at Misano, he was replaced in the factory Ducati team by Héctor Barberá. Australian Superbike rider Mike Jones made his MotoGP debut filling in for Barbera at Avintia Racing. Dani Pedrosa suffered a broken collarbone in a crash during Friday practice and was replaced by Honda test rider Hiroshi Aoyama for the rest of the weekend. Enea Bastianini (born 30 December 1997), nicknamed "La Bestia" (The Beast), is an Italian Grand Prix motorcycle racer, riding for Ducati Lenovo Team in the MotoGP class. Cal Crutchlow (born 29 October 1985) is an English professional motorcycle racer who retired from regular competition after the 2020 season. He is contracted as a test rider for Yamaha Motor Racing, which he is expected to continue in 2022 and 2023. Aleix Espargaró Villà (born 30 July 1989) is a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. Hiroshi Aoyama
is a Japanese retired Grand Prix motorcycle road racer, and current team principal of Honda Team Asia. Aoyama is best known for winning the 2009 250cc World Championship title. He is the older brother of former 250cc and World Superbike rider, Shuhei Aoyama. In his six seasons in the 250cc World Championship, he raced Honda and KTM machinery in an Aprilia-dominated class. He took nine victories and never finished lower than seventh overall. By winning the 2009 250cc World Championship, Aoyama become the last winner of this class before its replacement by the Moto2 class in 2010.
