The 2016 Football Federation Victoria season was the third season under the new competition format for state-level football (soccer) in Victoria. The competition consisted of seven divisions across the state of Victoria. Football Victoria is the state governing body for soccer in Victoria, Australia. It is affiliated with Football Australia, the sport's national governing body. History Football Victoria began operation in 1884 under the name Anglo Australian Football Association of Victoria and is one of the oldest sporting associations in Victoria. It has had several name changes over the years, but has survived as the governing body of soccer in Victoria since this time. In 2009, player registrations for soccer in Victoria passed 50,000, the highest number in the federation's history. Ballarat City FC is an Australian semi-professional association football club based in Ballarat, Victoria. For most of its history, the club's home ground was Trekardo Park, before making the move to the Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility in 2014. After the 2016 National Premier Leagues Victoria 2 season, the club members voted to reform the club from Ballarat Red Devils to Ballarat City, a move sanctioned by the Football Federation Victoria as they transferred the club's NPLV licence to the new entity. Whittlesea Ranges is a professional soccer club based in the suburbs of Epping and Lalor, Victoria, Australia. All home games are played at Epping Stadium. Formed in 1971, the club currently competes in the Victorian State League 1 North-West after were Relegated from NPL Victoria 3 competition. Recent History In 2011, coached by Dean Fak, Whittlesea Ranges were promoted from the State League Division Two North-West, beating Box Hill United and Langwarrin in the play-off fixtures after finishing runners up to Werribee City in the league. Ranges appointed Zoran Markovski as the coach for the 2012 State League One season. He was replaced by fellow former Melbourne Knights National Soccer League player Vinko Buljubasic after 13 rounds. Melbourne City Football Club Youth is the youth system of Melbourne City Football Club based in Melbourne, Victoria. The youth team plays in the NPL Victoria 3, the third tier of Victorian football in Australia. The club also competes in the under-21s A-League Youth competition. St Albans Saints Soccer Club is an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in St Albans, Victoria. Established by local Croatian Australians as Dinamo, the club is a regular participant in the Australian-Croatian Soccer Tournament. The National Premier Leagues Victoria 2, commonly referred to as NPL Victoria 2, is a semi-professional soccer league in Victoria, Australia. The league is the second-highest in the Victorian league system, behind the National Premier Leagues Victoria, and forms the third tier of the overall Australian league system.
